Hi, looking to book AKL-JFK-FCO on QF /AA in Sep 26. Will we have to collect bags and recheck them in JFK for the FCO flight?

Correct. You’ll have to clear immigration, collect bags, and then clear security. You’ll need an ESTA if you don’t already have one.

One of the cygnets is flying QF7 to DFW tomorrow connecting to AA2350 to Mexico City. QF lands at terminal D and AA departs from Terminal O.

I understand that luggage will be checked through to Mexico City but what about immigration? Can he transit without going through US immigration? He has a valid ESTA.
