Hey all, Happy New Year.

Does anyone please know what fare type gets booked when you use Qantas points to book Jetstar?

Which cabin class?

If Economy, I think it's a Starter fare with 20kg checked baggage included.
And just to round this off… if you are connecting onwards with Qantas or a Qantas partner and you are entitled to a higher baggage allowance due to your ticket, that carries across to the JQ sector(s) as well. It can take 24-48 hours to update on the JQ website MMB hiwever… but it does seem to work!

I booked BNE-BKK-MCT-IST with first flight on JQ others Oman Air. I seem to have 30kg baggage allowance for all flights. One night layover in BKK, 3 nights in MCT used multi flight tool.

We had that happen late last year. To get from Canberra to Proserpine using points, the CBR-SYD leg was Qantas, and the SYD-PPP leg was Jetstar. It took 3-4 days before the JQ MMB showed the correct luggage allowance. Before that it was trying to tell me I had to purchase the luggage as an add-on to the ticket

So ended up booking this finally.

It's a starter fare albeit with 30kg of checked baggage.
Is that what the QF issued ticket says?

In the app/website, there should be a link to take you thru to JQ to select seats etc (for a fee), plus show you included luggage and fees to increase. Don’t be surprised if it says 20 kgs.

We had that anomaly but we were under 20 kg anyway but I had the printed eTicket on hand just in case.

Qantas baggage allowance (30kg) applies if it’s Qantas marketed but operated by Jetstar, but extra allowances for status don’t.

OP and my experience is for award bookings, so not sure if that still counts as “Marketed”?

Certainly sold/ticketed on 081- stock but a JQ flight.

Yup. Not that I need it. And yes ended up selecting seats for free. Not going to bother for a meal on a 5 hour red-eye from Bali either.
