Jetstar to fly to Singapore, Bangkok & coughet from Perth in 2024

Jetstar have just announced these new flights. They will be using the new Airbus A321neo LR. As far as I know they will not have J seats so a big no from me.

I hope QF doesn’t drop QF71/72 - it’s sort of a nice “daytime“ flight back to Oz.

Although the “sparrows” departures out of SIN will connect with east bound flights from PER for those who loath the red eye flights to the east coast.

PER-DPS flights are also upgraded to A321NEO’s from what I can see it’s all daily services.

Next 3K needs to rebuild their hub out of Singapore to support these new routes and enable daily connections to places like Penang. They‘ve only got something like 10 A320’s left, although they are in the process of adding a couple of ex Scoot A320’s.

TBF, the A321neoLR cabin from JQ is broadly similar in comfort compared to a QF/VA 737 in Y - the legroom is similar as they use slimline seats, they're a similar width and they have very large overhead bins. Also a USB-A port for charging. For the prices offered it's not an abhorrently bad product, especially if other airlines are offering narrowbodies as competition. Against a widebody, less competitive (but so are most narrowbodies...)

and to/from PER (topic of this thread), we’re not talking ULH flights.

The current PER<->DPS flights are not awful. I’m not rushing to do it again but that and some of these others will be handy repositioning flights for those looking to avoid the Australia Tax.

I hope the cancelled JQ99/96 service can be replaced by Qantas A321XLR.
With a day time departure from SIngapore, it can be popular amongst premium flyers.

Unlikely, capacity is not there and QF are not going to put a premium offering online to compete with various Bintang express’s
