HNL now HTI. From last week October.

Seems like it’s going to NJS.

I wonder if AYQ is next, seems like a logical A220 route.

I can see a lot of similarities between Honolulu and Hamilton Island. A premium leisure destination with expensive accommodation, so it makes sense for Qantas to serve this market (attracting higher yields in the process), and for Jetstar to redirect its planes onto other routes.

FWIW Jetstar will replace the Hamilton Island flights with additional services to nearby Airlie Beach/Proserpine.

It wouldn’t surprise me if National Jet Systems have a lower cost base compared to Jetstar. I see they pay staff incredibly low wages.

A bit of capacity shifting going on for the Whitsundays.

Jetstar increases both MEL-PPP and SYD-PPP to daily services. BNE-PPP also increases to 10x weekly.

Qantas adds MEL-HTI and switches BNE-HTI to the A220. Also looks like QF end the BNE-PPP route in favour of extra JQ flights.

Woo hoo big fan of QF entering MEL HTI, now we have a better option for my parents to come up and meet us there next year!

Is there a start date for this?

Changes take effect on October 26th with the start of the NW25/26 season.

To summarise the changes:

Jetstar
  • Exits Hamilton Island
  • Increases MEL-PPP to daily (2x weekly A321 & 5x weekly A320)
  • Increases SYD-PPP to daily A321
  • Increases BNE-PPP to 10x weekly A320
  • Suspends ADL-PPP
Qantas
  • Exits Proserpine
  • Switches BNE-HTI from daily E190 to A220
  • Commences MEL-HTI 3x weekly A220

Wouldn't surprise me if they change ADL-PPP to seasonal and operate it over winter in SA.
Upon closer inspection, that appears to be the case.

ADL-PPP suspends at the end of October. Operates again briefly between mid-December and the end of January, and resumes again at the end of March 2026.
