Jetstar Luggage Allowance to Honolulu

I was lucky enough to secure 2 seats in March Mel-Hnl return in their recent sale for $850, but can someone please confirm the luggage allowance. As the travel is direct to and from the USA is it 2 bags each at 32Kg...Jetstar's home page information is confusing Thanks Noreen

Their website seems to say the following:

Jetstar - At the airport

" Honolulu (HNL) Passengers

Each passenger travelling on a JetSaver, JetFlex or International StarClass fare to or from the United States may check in up to 2 pieces of baggage for carriage in the aircraft hold. No one item may exceed 32kg in weight. The maximum total combined dimension of the two pieces is 270cm (106 inches), with no single item exceeding 158cm (62 inches).

For every piece of baggage above the allowance specified above, you will be charged AUD 96 per piece (departing from Australian airports) or USD 72 per piece (departing from Honolulu).

Click here to see the important cabin baggage information for passengers travelling to/from USA. "

So, 2 bags, each at 32Kg up to their maximum luggage dimensions. I presume any connecting domestic flights would also have the same allowance.

i rang jetstar yesterday to check the baggage allowance in economy, as our flight from honolulu to sydney was changed from qantas to jetstar. I was advised 20kg.

The whole 2 pieces no more than 32KG each has confused people in a couple of threads here.

But re-reading the website it does clearly distinguish between Jet* Asia, Long Haul and HNL passengers. I think that whoever nat000 spoke to either read the wrong thing in the guidelines or the Jetstar website is wrong.

Indeed. All scheduled flights to USA are entitled to the 2PC allowance iirc

What do you mean that your flight was changed to Jetstar. QF are still flying this route, at the moment indefinitely. Were you offered a change because of the schedule change for QF flights next year or were you forced to change?

We booked on a QF flight departing Honolulu on Saturday in April next year. Qantas rang to advise me last week that they don't fly depart on Saturday now and that jetstar does so we would be put on that flight. We ended up changing our day of departure to Friday (which Qantas does fly that day).

I think it is due to some US regulation which is why it exists. It does make going via USA to Eggland a good move for baggage allowance

Hi everyone! Just home from Hawaii and can advise that on check in at Jetstar Honolulu we were allowed to bring home 2 suitcases each up to 32kg each or 1 suitcase up to 32kg and a surfboard/windsurfer! This was a bit of a surprise as we thought Jetstar would charge extra for surfboard/windsurfer but this was not the case. I had tried to phone Jetstar whilst in Hawaii to check out but couldnt raise anyone either at the airport or on the toll free number Qantas provided. Baggage situation made hubby very unhappy - we had passed on a new windsurf board in Maui because we thought we'd have to pay extra for the baggage on the way home! Ahhhhhh:evil:
