Hi,

Just wanted to see what the current process is and how strict they are when boarding an international Jetstar flight and cabin baggage.

Now obviously I've been through the check and weigh on domestic flights but in the past I've always found international not too bad.

My predicament is that I'm travelling with my wife and 3yo. My wife and I will each have 1 small backpack, and child will have a medium (50com) duffle bag. We also have a small cabin approved foldable stroller so I'm just wondering if we'll get pulled up or are they ok for this kind of thing.

Flight will be on a 787 too.

Thanks

They are strict on luggage allowances - both carry on and checked

Stroller is free and do not count toward any checked luggage allowance irrespective of fare purchased but if child is also travelling
However if carried into cabin it will count toward carry on allowance.

Your luggage allowance will depend on the purchased fare.

Thanks @Quickstatus weight wise we'll be ok across both checked and cabin allowance but its more so will they care if we have 2 x backpacks, 1 x duffle bag and 1 x stroller as opposed to 3 x main cabin bag and small bag. If it comes to it we'll check in the stroller, just dont want it destroyed that's all

As you know the 7kg per person carry on luggage can be split between 2 carry on items - main one can go overhead, small one to go under
Yes they are strict with carry on.

Consider paying for extra 7kg carry on allowance via manage booking for a total 14kg which also allows the main item to be 10kg
Or play around with the numbers and weight as see if you can get some to go into checked luggage. There is a benefit in not having checked luggage - no waiting at luggage carousel and no chance of it going missing.

But yes assume they will be strict with luggage allowances - checked and carry on

Name the airports/routes. I fly JQ/3K a lot across the network and some airports are much tighter than others.

Regarding checked luggage most play 100% by the rules which is fair enough because the bag is tagged and weighed at the same time. Carry on is a different ball game, there are some that always weigh, others that are 50/50 and a handful that never bother.
