Hi people - anyone knows if Jetstar will really fly from the Gold Coast to Wgton in June as advertised? I used to take this flight often, before Covid, and it's been for sale last year. We got tickets and these got cancelled due to the NZ border. Now that NZ has opened, I am surprised that Jetstar doesn't yet fly there, but they are meant to fly from June 1st 2022, subject to Govt approval. I think this is a bit odd. I could understand this while the borders were closed on both sides but now that NZ and Australia have opened and there are lots of kiwis here, I wonder if anyone knows a good reason for this? I've already booked flights "subject to govt approval" with Qantas and I am waiting for my refund as they were cancelled (to Argentina), so I don't want to make this mistake again. Jetstar has been good at refunding my money and points last year, but I am hesitant anyway. Any info anyone has is appreciated.

No one knows. At the moment there is a risk resumption will be pushed back because most Australians can't yet visit NZ. However border restrictions are subject to change, and there is an announcement due tomorrow. Hopefully it brings forward the release of restrictions.

NZ has not full opened. At this time only to NZ Citizens/PR & immediate family. AU citizens "by July" [That may change tomorrow].

While around Easter is expensive(busy?), TT demand is relativity low. NZ & QF would have more flights scheduled if demand was high, but not seeing that. Still many hesitant to travel. Some people from NZ got trapped in AU when NZ govt closed the border/did not open up 17 Jan 2022.

JQ NZ 28 Feb (so Mar Apr May)-->Jetstar halts trans-Tasman, Rarotonga flights for three months

True, I hadn't thought that NZ is only open to NZ citizens but you are right, and there's not enough demand, ugh. Hope there are some good news tomorrow then! I can fly but Air NZ prices to Wellington are ridiculous and nothing is direct, soonish. Jetstar offers good value for money..Air NZ are pretty reliable though!

NZ reopens to Australians at 2359 on 12 April 2022.

Wellington Airport chief executive Steve Sanderson said about 450 international flights were scheduled to and from the airport during April to June, but the airport expected this to increase as airlines adjusted their schedules.

The first international flight to the Capital is expected on 31 March from Brisbane with Air New Zealand.

From 1 April, Wellingtonians will be able to fly from the airport to Brisbane non-stop, from 4 April non-stop to Melbourne and from 5 April non-stop to Sydney. Fiji Airways also plan to start flying non-stop to Nadi from Wellington on 13 April and Qantas is looking to return from 23 May with services to Sydney and Melbourne.

But will JQ be added to the WLG list?
In another week may get more scheduled TT flights

Yes, very suspicious of these "subject to govt approval" flights. Only reason they don't resume flights to Wgton mid April is because they don't want to (don't feel there's demand, whatever).

Does anyone know if the Jetstar Gold Coast to Wellington flights have been zeroed out? There are flights from June but say subject to govt approval. I've booked these in the past during the NZ-Australia travel bubble and when it burst I had no issues getting both money and points back on the two occasions, same with changing flights but unsure if Jetstar is still as reliable. Thanks in advance.

These flights are still showing as available on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays in June.

(That's not to say necessarily that they won't be cancelled in the future - but so far, so good.)

Thank you so much for the info!!! :)

This route is operated by OOL base which has 5 aircraft. Looks like they have dropped a morning Melbourne flight for this route so should be good.
