Jetstar flight almost takes off from Melbourne with “door” open

With everything that is going on they just didn’t want to wait until the door fell off. o_O ;)

Jetstar flight forced to abort takeoff after door left open

A Jetstar flight heading from Melbourne to Launceston has been forced to slam the brakes on takeoff due to a door on their communication system being left open.

Aside from maybe tower, who would have been the last person that would have had to actually see that panel?

In other words, who are we going to pick up and throw violently against the wall?

Also, completely naive here, but is there no alert or the like that shows up when any door or panel cover is open?

I have seen tug drivers plug into an aircraft comm's panel to communicate with pilots. No idea if JQ do that or have radio.

Presumably the FO/other who did the pre-departure walk-around OR as mwenenzi mentioned, a tug driver.

As an aside, interesting that ATC had their glasses on the front of this aircraft as it rolled down the runway.

They would plug in. Much more reliable. No risk of people speaking over each other, or of mistakenly responding to the wrong aircraft/ground person.

This would have been the responsibility of the ground crew. No point in the pilots looking as it would normally be opened well after they've completed their preflight.

On an Airbus, the external preflight alternates, with the pilot not flying the sector doing it. On Boeings it's the Captain (unless he has an SO to offload it to).

I wonder how fast they were going. Presumably slowly, as it would not be considered cause for an abort faster than 80 knots or so.

My QF2 flight today arriving SIN had to go around due to plane before us slow to exit runway😱
No probs 2nd attempt👍
