As part of the Group’s dual-brand strategy, Jetstar will cease flying between Sydney and Honolulu after the last flight on Friday 24 October 2025 with its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to be redeployed to other destinations in Asia. Qantas will subsequently operate between 5 to 6 services per week between Sydney and Honolulu, which remains popular amongst customers following the recent launch of its flights from Melbourne to the Hawaiian capital.
Certainly interesting watching this market shift over time, likely hard now offering a low cost carrier product to what is a now a very high cost destination.

I remember the old days flying on the return for free sales on the Airbus A330. Brisbane to Honolulu was one we did.

A bit of bravado from Qantas, I think. Yes, Hawaii used to be a nice destination, but now????

Actually, AirBnBs are quite affordable and there’s a lot of them in and around Waikiki. Have one booked again in a few months.

But yes, hotels are crazy expensive…. 🤷‍♂️. Not sure there’s been any/many new hotels built/opened for years?

I
Not sure how that's "good news". Fewer options on a route is never good news for passengers, in general, AFAIK.
I believe the presser mentioned more QF flights in lieu of JQ.

Plus HA, will soon be OW. Who knows what options that’ll bring?

Yep, I guess so, although having the budget carrier removed from the route isn't good for passengers from a cost perspective.
I've had plenty of family fly them to Honolulu but still spend a fortune on hotels and tourism, these are the types of passengers that are far more interested in the destination than the flight (they have zero interest in planes, unlike many of us lol).

They will have an aircraft offline for next few years for engineering checks with associated cabin refit so I wouldn’t expect any new additions this or next year.

They would be wise to keep some 787 capacity permanently up their sleeve. As the fleet continues to age, unexpected engineering issues will continue to rise.

I'd suspect the replacement route will be a while off as the first JQ 788 is off for refurb into the heavier recliner "J" (Premium Y) configuration.

Good news, Hawaii is expensive and not for the JQ/Bali crowd
Good riddance.

I booked JetStar to HNL some years ago, business class. The price was too good to refuse. Flight was canceled while we were in the departure lounge, no SMS or anything, brief public announcement, no offer of assistance.
JetStar said: "come back tomorrow, perhaps we can get you on the next flight".
Quick reversion to internet got us on the Hawaiian flight leaving 3 hours later, but we missed a connection in HNL and lost a night's (expensive) accommodation on the Big Island.
To JetStar's credit, they offered an immediate refund when I called them from SYD airport while waiting for our later flight. Money landed in the account within a couple of days.

That was our last JetStar booking, 10 years ago.

Booked my daughter on one of these cancelled flights in December - booked business class and she's been moved to economy. Contacted Jetstar who said not their problem, contact Qantas.... been a few hours and still no call back from Qantas. Am hoping they will come to the party

Are you sure they didn't offer her Premium Economy on Qantas? This is the equivalent of business on Jetstar.

Unfortunately not, just standard economy. Would be very happy with the move to premium economy. Probably a bit nicer than jetstar business.

All business class passengers have been offered Premium Economy for this, I believe, so I would double-check that someone didn't misunderstand the new flight arrangements.
