Jetstar Delays/Cancellations

Continuing with Tuesday 21, A320 VH-VGI is on JQ212, the 1540 hours afternoon AKL to MEL not in the sky until 1912 NZ time. Gate arrival should be about 2106 hours, 201 minutes late. On its first flight this morning, the 0925 hours AKL-DUD JQ283, it had to divert to CHC (fog in Dunedin?) so it's been running badly late all day.

On Thursday 23 July 2026, the BOM is indicating fog in Brisbane.

JQ965, the 2305 hours Wednesday 22 redeye from PER across to BNE took off at 2358 hours, almost 40 minutes late, and on Thursday 23 diverted to OOL. After time on the ground, the aircraft has formed JQ7990 from OOL into BNE. The flight number suggests it is devoid of passengers: were they transferred to BNE by road coaches, or buses plus the train ex Helenvale?

JQ7990 was airborne from OOL at 0942 hours with BNE arrival forecast as 1011 hours.

The early morning 0600 hours CNS down to BNE JQ929 did not take off until 0807 hours. With A320 VH-VFJ it is arriving at 1004 hours, 114 minutes behind schedule.

A321 VH-VWN on Thursday 23 July is an example of a severe BNE fog-related delay.

It's operating JQ813, the 0815 hours BNE-SYD that was not in the sky until 1147 hours. Arrival at 1302 hours will be 192 minutes behind schedule. This is largely because its 'first of the morning' 0600 hours SYD-BNE (JQ810) did not take off until 0931, presumably after the fog had cleared in Brisbane, with arrival in the Queensland capital at 1048, 198 minutes late.

Note how thus far it's only picked up six minutes of the earlier huge delay, despite having a 45 minute turnaround allowance in BNE.

JQ565, the 0710 hours BNE down to MEL was worse, with takeoff at 1158 hours for A320 VH-VGO. Arrival should be approximately 1406 hours, 271 minutes late. This was because overnight, it operated JQ965 from PER to BNE as noted in the previous post, but this had to divert to OOL. In Melbourne, the aircraft appears to be forming JQ564, the 1015 hours MEL back up to BNE optimistically forecast as departing at 1425, which is impossible.
