The mid afternoon 1515 hours JQ517 was the airline's only offering southbound from SYD down to MEL on Tuesday 27 October 2020. A320 VH-VGD took off at 1612 hours, arriving at 1721, 31 minutes late.

QFd and VAd each operated one flight southbound on this route today, so the lean pickings for airlines, staff and passengers continue as State Premiers decline to open borders, even though minimal or in some cases zero COVD-19 infections (and no deaths) are daily reported. Farcical, and one well understands the annoyance of QF Chairman Richard Goyder at yesterday's AGM.

JQ672, the Friday 30 October 2020 scheduled 1100 SYD up to DRW (A320 VH-VGP) took off at 1207 hours, arriving at 1501 hours, 66 late. The return (JQ671), the 1435 hours, took off at 1603 with SYD arrival expected shortly at 2112, 42 minutes tardy.

JQ935, the 2045 hours mid evening CNS down to BNE on Saturday 31 October 2020 has been cancelled. As at 1540 AEST mid afternoon, ferocious storms were buffeting Brisbane, with earlier reports of 13cm hailstones (big).

JQ936, the late afternoon 1745 hours BNE - CNS has also got the boot.

The 1330 hours ADL - BNE (JQ783) has A320 VH-VFP) and should arrive at 1607, 47 late although it was only about five minutes late in taking off at 1350 hours. Given the weather, not surprising.

Sunday 1 November 2020 sees JQ205, the 1140 hours late morning from SYD across to AKL expected to depart at 1300 this afternoon. This is JQi's only offering today, although NZ has two flights to AKL. Strangely QFi lacks any but that's true for the whole of the QFi (former) network ex Sydney today.

On Thursday 12 November 2020, JQ460, the mid afternoon 1445 hours from SDYD up to increasingly popular BNK departed at 1645 and took off at 1707, arriving at 1807, 127 minutes behind schedule. Aircraft was A320 VH-VQH.

This plane must have substituted for a failed class member as it arrived from AYQ at 1608 hours (22 minutes early) as flight JQ661.

JQ461 from BNK to SYD is expected to arrive at its gate at 954, 114 minutes tardy.

JQ513 (Saturday 14 November 2020, the timetabled mid afternoon 1415 hours SYD down to MEL) did not take off until 1522 with A320 VH-VFX. Arrival was at 1640, 50 late. This is the only flight this aircraft has operated in teh last seven days so not sure why it was late. Problems bringing it back into service?

JQ672 on Wednesday 18 November 2020, the scheduled 1145 hours SYD up to DRW (A320 VH-VQP) did not depart until 1245, taking off promptly at 1253 hours and arriving at 1530, 50 minutes tardy. This flight is running four days a week at present during coronavirus.

This aircraft had not been used since Saturday 14 when it operated JQ7991 from NTL down the short hop to SYD, having on 13 November had flights from SYD to OOL and then OOL to NTL. Unusual to run empty between Newcastle and Sydney.

Given the sudden six day lockdown imposed on South Australians, Friday 20 November 2020 sees JQ760, the early morning 0700 hours SYD across to ADL cancelled while JQ764, a proposed 'high noon' 1200 hours departure is to similarly suffer. This leaves JQd with JQ768 at 1730 hours from SYD as the sole remaining flight on the route.

All JQ flights (a grand total of one) from BNE down to ADL have been cancelled on Friday: JQ782 at 1610 hours got the gong. The same applies to all VAd flights on the route while one QFd flight out of five meant to run remains on the schedules.

Saturday 21 November 2020 saw JQ513, the 1415 hours mid afternoon SYD down to MEL depart at 1445 with A320 VH-VQR. It did not take off until 1505 hours so arrival was at 1620, half an hour behind schedule. This was the first use of this aircraft in the last seven days. There was only one other flight from SYD down to MEL today: QF409 at an early 0700 hours.

Tomorrow (Sunday 22), JQ760, the 0700 hours SYD to ADL is cancelled due to what has become the short lived SA lockdown, as is JQ764 at 1200 'high noon'. However at this stage, the 1730 hours JQ768 is operating. Stablemate QFd has cancelled three of its five westbound flights on the route while VAd is cancelling two of its three.

On Friday 27 November 2020, JQ703 (0920 hours morning from MEL down to HBA) did not take off until 1047 hours. A320 VH-VGF arrived in the island capital at the JQd equivalent to a 'gate' at 1054 hours, 74 minutes tardy. Returning, the 1120 hours HBA back up to MEL was worse, not being airborne until 1313 hours with Tulla arrival 97 minutes behind at 1417 hours.

The plane then formed JQ709, the 1450 hours mid arvo down again to HBA, taking off right on 1600, and arriving in Tassie's major airport at 1706, 56 late. JQ710, the 1650 hours peak period HBA - MEL was airborne at 1807 with projected arrival at 1913, 63 minutes tardy.

JQ678 (A320 VH-VGD, the 1250 hours MEL - DRW) was up up and away at 1426, arriving at 1652, 72 minutes behind the timetable. This aircraft seems to have ben substituting for a failed colleague as it was earlier on JQ505, an 1145 hours SYD down to MEL, not due in the southern capital until 1320 (but arriving four minutes early at 1316 hours). JQ678 was always going to be late.

JQ526 (1410 hours afternoon MEL - SYD, A320 VH-VFU) was worst of all, taking off at 1840, more than four hours late so still in the air as I type. Arrival should be at 2004 hours, 269 minutes behind the schedule. Again, this aircraft must be subbing for another unavailable class member, as the plane ran JQ746 from LST to SYD (the 1315 hours) and then to get it down to MEL, JQ531, the 1625 hours, arriving in MEL at 1753, seven minutes ahead of schedule. At least the JQd terminal is airconditioned although once there are delays, it has a grossly insufficient number of seats on days when flights are well loaded (assuming delays compound so often one will have multiple late running planes for MEL-originating patrons).

This VH-VFU aircraft came across from AKL to SYD on JQ204 yesterday as it had been in New Zealand operating domestic flights for at least the previous half dozen days.

Back to the JQd shocking timekeeping days of old (although defunct TT was usually worse).

Wednesday 2 December 2020 sees JQ970, the mid afternoon MEL - PER timetabled for a 1530 hours pushback, and JQ778, last domestic flight of the night for any operator at 2055 hours (MEL to ADL) cancelled.

Tonight (Tuesday 1 December 2020), the final three domestic scheduled flights from MEL were all JQd: JQ518 and JQ524 to YD at 2025 and 23055 and JQ778 to ADL at 2055. However these were all cancelled but are operating tomorrow night.

While these look to have flight numbers indicating they were open for bookings, perhaps these are to place stored aircraft back into service, but they weren't ready tonight and are expected to be OK to fly to SYD or ADL in 24 hours.

JQ944, first of the morning at 0600 hours on Wednesday 2 DEcember 2020 from MEL up to CNS (A321 VH-VWT, not the first morning these have reentered service but the first time I've seen one pop up on a screen) did not take off until 0641 hours, so delayed arrival was 0845 hours, half an hour behind.

Later, JQ678 (1335 hours MEL up to DRW) took off at 1421, with A320 VH-VGF suggested as arriving at 1703, 38 minutes behind the timetable.

the 1720 hours MEL up to MCY, JQ796 is not expected to push back until 1845 hours.

For the second consecutive day, JQ778, last of the evening at 2055 hours from MEL across to ADL has been cancelled.

Friday 4 December 2020 has seen JQ510, the 1115 hours late morning MEL up to SYD cancelled, as was the later timetabled JQ524, the northbound 1520 hours.

JQ970 (1530 hours mid afternoon from MEL across to PER) also got the gong.

A320 VH-VGA on JQ916, the 1550 hours from MEL to TSV took off at 1636 with expected arrival half an hour behind at 1820 hours.

JQ778, last domestic flight timetabled ex MEL by any operator tonight has also been cancelled. Referring above, this has occurred previously this week.

JQ772, first of the morning at 0600 hours from MEL to ADL was cancelled on Saturday 5 December 2020.

A320 VH-VQR on JQ464 (afternoon 1315 hours MEL up to BNK) was airborne at 1400, reaching its equivalent of a gate at 1545 hours, half an hour behind. This was the third time in a week this flight has been similarly delayed.

The return was worse, with JQ465 (1555 hours BNK - MEL) not in the sky until 1721 so predicted arrival has become 1922 tonight, 77 late.

JQ970 was also a cancellation (1530 hours MEL - PER). This is often occurring.

JQ458, the 1010 hours SYD - BNK on Sunday 6 December 2020 was expected to depart at 1040 but has been further put back to 1115 hours.

UPDATE: A320 VH-VGY was airborne at 1147 hours, meaning likely BNK arrival at 1247, 82 late. The aircraft had earlier operated its first SYD - BNK rotation but that returned to SYD in plenty of time for the 1010 hours, so I am unsure why the marked delay.

FURTHER UPDATE: The flight arrived at 1248. JQ459 (1205 hours BNK back down to SYD) is delayed, but the next flight (assuming this aircraft stays on its roster), JQ460, is not until 1445 so it should not be more than 25 minutes late departing.

'The 459' ended up taking off in BNK at 1340 with suggested SYD arrival at 1449, 84 late.

MORE: This aircraft then ran JQ460 from SYD up to BNK again, arriving at 1657, 57 late, with the return trip JQ461, the 1640 hours, airborne at 1737 for arrival in SYD at 1849, 49 late.

JQ970, the 1530 hours mid afternoon MEL to PER is again cancelled. This is becoming a regular occurrence, yet today (Monday 7 December 2020) it was JQd's only scheduled MEL - PER flight. Do passengers get transferred to the limited QFd offerings?

In more on Monday 7 December 2020, JQ464 (A320 VH-VGN), the 1315 hours lunchtime from MEL up to sunny BNK took off at 1358 hours, arriving half an hour late at 1545. In the past seven days, this flight has run at least half an hour late (arriving) three times.

JQ812 (1010 hours morning SYD up to BNE with VH-VGF) was airborne at 1050, making a 31 late arrival at 1106 hours in teh Sunshine State capital.

JQ465, the 1555 hours BNK back down to MEL was worse, taking off at 1704 with arrival at 1906 hours, 61 minutes tardy. The aircraft then formed JQ743, the 1850 hours MEL down to LST, becoming airborne at 2007 hours. Expected arrival is 2101 hours, 66 late.

The 1335 hours MEL - DRW had A320 VH-VFH, taking off at 1416 hours for a 40 minute late arrival at 1705. The plane returned south as JQ677, with this 1715 hours departure not in the sky until 1813. Projected arrival is 49 late at 2344 hours very late tonight.

JQ514, the 1520 hours MEL - SYD was cancelled. This was not displaying as a cancellation on Sunday evening.

JQ521, the 1725 hours SYD - MEL also got the flick.

Friday 11 December 2020 has seen JQ508 (1040 hours from MEL to SYD) get the boot.

JQ512, the 1310 hours northbound was another cancellation. So was JQ514 at 1520 hours, and JQ522 at 1950 hours ex MEL for SYD.

On Saturday 12 DEcember, JQ500, the 0610 hours first of the morning from MEL to SYD is also cancelled, as is JQ502 at 0715 hours. JQ504 at 0825 ex MEL becomes the first JQd own metal flight to SYD tomorrow morning: a late start.

JQ508, the 1040 hours MEL - SYD is also to be cancelled tomorrow. JQ528 (1200 'high noon') will also not run, and neither will JQ516, the afternoon 1605 hours MEL - SYD. JQ520 at 1830 hours on the same route is another cancellation, while from MEL up to slightly more north NTL, JQ476, the 1750 hours, is to be another non-starter.
