Jetstar Cancellation Denpasar

Interesting report.

No one is forcing you to fly Jetstar. As mentioned you can fly via SYD or MEL or even via SIN and KUL as a one-stop itinerary.

I really don't understand the must fly direct mentality. I will fly via the airports I want with the aircraft I want to fly. Yes I know travelling with infants or young kids could be difficult but that's it. Most other excuses are in the mind.

P.S. Off topic but I am planning a Oneworld award for early next year and realise I am only using 11 sectors. What a waste. I was having nightmares last night and couldn't sleep. Can't think of anywhere else to add to trip.

When you are only going away for a week it is nonsensical to spend 12 hours flying when if there was a reliable service you can do it in five. Virgin and Qantas have tanked on Adelaide direct. Qantas do not fly into Bali at all now.

thanks for the post donwhite, were you able to get JQ to pay for your intercontinental room or did you use travel insurance for this?

In response to my email to them asking for reimbursement they very generously offered nothing but a confirmation that the flight was cancelled for me to use in my travel insurance claim. Waiting to see what the insurance company's response is.

The last time we booked Jetstar to Bali was when they cancelled flights out of Sydney because of the Chilean volcano. After 2 days of lack of help from Jetstar we booked over priced "business seats" on Virgin Sydney Perth Denpasar. We were in row 2 with economy passengers in row 1 and in 2 a and 2 c. We had a plastic tray in the middle seat. One of the economy passengers in 2 c with no one in 2 b complained they didn't have a tray between them. Travel insurance paid for it though

thanks for sharing donwhite. would be keen to see what your travel insurance response is.

on another note - does anyone know if in that situation, whether its a good idea to book the hotel with points? ie, does it complicate with the compensation situation from airline/insurance?
