Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

Sadly, not a good enough reputation to sustain itself, it seems.
TR had an edge in the SG market as a subsidiary of SQ. But also they marketed heavily on 10kg of hand luggage. I would take TR over 3K for a weekend away because of this. Travelling with a laptop, easy to do with 10kg. With 7kg not worth the hassle especially if you don’t know whether or not it would be enforced. Meanwhile never seen any enforcement on TR of the more generous carry on. An integral part of the JQ business model so I guess they couldn’t change it for 3K.

I can believe you on this one.

But ironically, for the two 3K flights I flew last year, there was no weighing at the gate (or at check-in for that matter). Maybe it was a case of "if it doesn't look heavy, it isn't" or just got lucky. I thought I'd be a prime target as my backpack doesn't exactly look small (it was probably about 1-2 kg over the limit), plus I duly carry two carry-ons because one contains my CPAP (not that anyone knows that unless you recognise the ResMed mark).
