Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

If it is showing sold out and immediately previously had discounted fares available, there is a possibility of cancellation....
Thanks for sharing, guess I'll be watching this page verrrrry closely!

I have a flight from Okinawa to Singapore booked next week and it's the only direct connection, flights on other airlines are coughbersome and often involve backtracking to the Japanese mainland first. Showing no changes as yet however flight shows as "Sold Out" on the website, I can only hope it's genuinely sold out and not them just hitting pause before cancelling it 🤞

Seriously, the simplest solution for QF would be to swallow their pride and codeshare with MH into KUL (especially with MH adding a 3rd daily service from SYD and MEL and restarting BNE) and codeshare with them to onward destinations in South-East Asia!

Shame, I prefer to connect through SIN onto BKK or KUL. Can still go direct from SYD but the offering SYD > BKK or SYD > KUL not the same as SYD > SIN
Agreed.

We used to use 3K a lot pre-Covid. Perfect for the EK connection BNE-SIN onto 3K either HKT or BKK. Award flights have been more difficult the past few years as flights have disappeared.

And no, SYD-BKK direct is a poor alternative. Very expensive and limited award availability that needs to be booked long way in advance. JQ BNE-BKK better option but that's starting to become popular.

This all does beg the question what QF will do for onward connections - as alluded to earlier posts? A broad codeshare with SQ would be cool - maybe they’re not feeling the VA/QR love…😉

Some more JQ flights between Oz and Asian ports?

Expanding PJ codeshares - but there’s only so many seats into BKK each day.

Will we see codeshares on GA ex CGK/DPS?

Left field, QF re-starts up KUL
Perhaps they will build up the "Western Hub" at PER and use the 321's to go into Asia from there? Or more direct SYD/MEL/BNE to Asian cities in the xlr.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see more long, thin JQ options from Oz non-stop to Asia.

QF seem stuck between protecting their main brand on routes such as SYD-SIN, and the obvious public demand for LCC options. Hence they won't let JQ compete out of SYD to SIN and we are more likely to see Scoot increase flights.

I’d imagine they will put the Melbourne to Singapore route under the microscope after this and see how it goes. They could switch it out for a 321N, as incredibly unattractive as that is, would still give them some share.

They could run a 321N, MEL-SIN-BKK or MEL-SIN-DPS tag if they are still inclined to nab some intra Asia traffic. Not sure if the BKK would be allowed but the Singapore to Bali leg they could opt for.
