Jetstar 787 economy seats are actually painful

I flew Jetstar 787 economy Melbourne to Saigon & back last week. I have been on a number of flights in my life, and 95% of them economy. All previous seats acceptable in terms of economy seating. Jetstar 787 economy seats are actively painful to sit on, starting a few minutes into the 8 hours trip. Hard leather covered plastic bolsters digging into your back the whole trip. Never experienced a painful airline seat until this return trip. 6ft and 105KG's, maybe they are made for 5ft 60KG people? Anyone else feel the same?

Flew Singapore Airlines MEL to CPH and WAW to MEL in Sept and QATAR ADL to LHR back via LGW and both airline's economy seats great, Singapore Airlines really recommended.

PS, won't get into this, but Jetstar pulled our Friday night flight whilst all 300 people waiting for slight delay, turning into 'engineering fault, can everyone please return to the airport tomorrow at 4.40PM for re-scheduled flight'. They did put us up at very nice Hyatt Essendon Fields hotel though.

Try flying on a delayed PER-MEL Jetstar A320 flight that's scheduled to leave at 1:45am and actually leaves at 3:30am, and then being unable to recline or sleep because the six-foot-something passenger behind you has their knees dug into the back of your seat for the duration.

That's painful. And that's the day I decided that flying Jetstar is simply not worth it. Not ever.

I'm genuinely glad that low cost airlines exist. They help a lot of people achieve their dream holidays. But sorry, they're not for me.

I concur on those seats I am a little taller and 85% in economy travel.

Just be happy it was not a child playing a game on the IFE and then all night donking off your seat.

I flew JQ MEL-BKK economy return earlier this year and the seats aren't great but they are not as bad as SQ A350 economy seats on the BNE-SIN sectors.

Awful. Extremely uncomfortable. Why design a seat with fixed recline? My lower back hurts if reclined more than a few minutes. I have to be upright but not even given that choice. And the seat is short. Feels like I was going to slip off the seat.

I used to hate the A330 but that is a Godsend compared to A350. Don't know what I'm going to do as almost airlines seem to be going for the A350.

Oh 747 and A380 where have you gone?

JohnK, I need to fly J on OHS grounds... I didn't mind the 7473/4 in Y being limited to 8 hours, but that was a while ago........but these days?

Im 6 foot and can bear it for flights up to 2 hrs Duration, bit i draw the line there. I also find the seat doesnt give me any shoulder/neck support.

Our choices these days seem to be 787 and A350. They both need to be configured 2-4-2 in economy not 3-3-3 as the seats are too narrow.

People getting wider and airline seats getting narrower cannot be a good thing.

I agree with this! I've done plenty of JQ 787 flights and never had a comfort problem. Meanwhile, when the pax in front reclined in the SQ A350 it was one of the only times in economy I've ever felt uncomfortably hemmed in....the seatback screen was so close to my face I couldn't focus on it.
