Jetgo has added a third route to its fledgling regular public transport (RPT) network, with the regional carrier to start service between Tamworth and Brisbane from January 19 2015.
The airline said it would offer twice daily flights between Tamworth and the Queensland capital from Monday to Friday, subject to regulatory approvals and finalising an agreement with the Tamworth Regional Council.
“Tamworth has been without the popular direct service since Brindabella ceased operations in December 2013 forcing passengers travelling between Tamworth and Brisbane to change aircraft in Sydney, greatly increasing the transit times and cost,” Jetgo in a statement on Wednesday.
The new flights were due to start during the annual Tamworth country music festival, which run from January 16-25.
Jetgo has primarily been a charter and fly-in/fly-out operator prior to gaining its high capacity jet RPT Air Operator’s Certificate in October.
