Thought some people might find this interesting heard through friend in recruitment in NZ that Jetconnect (the NZ arm of QF owned by QF) is on a big recruitment drive for staff, FA's, pilots, g/staff etc...

Apparently Jetconnect is doing pretty well and they are looking to expand its role, and staffing up to do so...

Wonder what is happening? More NZ domestic flights or taking over from QF mainline perhaps?

I have always had outstanding service from Jetconnect so happy for any expansion of this arm of QF.

Simple fact is that renumeration/benefits of NZ based Jetconnect staff are less than those for equivalent OZ based Qantas staff.

More and more you will find Jetconnect staff on Qantas mainline flights.

Not to mention their friendliness too :)

I'm not sure that Qantas has any more spare planes to send across to NZ for Jetconnect (perhaps except when more 738's come online over the next little while). So any more expansion in the short term will just be routes taken over from Qantas shorthaul.

The growth in groundstaff is interesting. That does imply either a taking away of ground services from AirNZ (woohoo if they do it!) or the introduction of more flights in/to NZ. I'm not sure exactly how much ground support AirNZ provides for Qantas in New Zealand (quite a bit I believe) but if they can change that over to Qantas employed staff then things will run smoother for Qantas in NZ.

Can anyone else see Jetconnect receiving more planes from Qantas or leasing some of their own?

Does Jetconnect staff Jetstar services into/out of NZ? It's always better to test out a new franchise concept, with a wholly owned store!

Yes they do operate the Jetstart services and thier base is in Christchurch.

Jetconnect actually has stopped the recruitment of cabin crew until Janurary next year. There will be no more training or recruitment until at least then. So unfortunately for the recent group that was interviewed, they have been asked to wait.

With the exception of a few flights Jetconnect crew don't make up a huge amount of the crew onboard. Jetconnect crew usually have the majority on MEL-AKL-LAX vv (25/26) The two morning flights to Sydney and the two evening flights to Auckland from Sydney. Recently Jetconnect crew have also been the majority on MEL/LAX (93/94).
