I would be very happy if QF entered into a codeshare agreement with 9W. It may mean one less frequent flyer number to keep track of.

IMHO, they are the best of the Indian airlines.

With the rumour mill doing the rounds that Air Sahara (S2) was a potential candidate for joining OneWorld and now with Jet Airways takeover of Air Sahara, not sure is this deal is complete yet, I would not be surprised if Jet Airways is invited to join OneWorld sometime in the near future.

JohnK, that is a good rumour. If that happens I don't care about the code-share agreement so much. Let's keep the fingers crossed!

There are also rumours around joining *A. Well it seems every time there is another codeshare partnership the rumours swirl - Jet has added both OW and *A partners recently.

I've flown Jet domestically in India a few times, not a bad thing about them to say at all, in fact sometimes I've found their service to be better than QF's. They fly out of Singapore too, so I'd like to try that sometime.

This is particulary remarkable given how pathetic Air India and their domestic partner Indian Airlines are.

Great news for anyone that has not read the QF press release.

Qantas signs codeshare with Jet Airways

Delhi, 10 August 2006

Qantas and India's premier airline, Jet Airways, have today announced a codeshare arrangement that will expand Qantas' network within India from 6 September, subject to government approval.

Executive General Manager Qantas Airlines John Borghetti said the codeshare on Jet Airways meant that Qantas now offered a greater than daily frequency from Mumbai to Sydney when combined with the existing Qantas thrice weekly Airbus A330-300 services. In addition, Perth gains a daily codeshare connection to Mumbai.

"India is an important and growing market for Qantas and this partnership with Jet Airways provides us with an opportunity to further develop our business. We will also offer Delhi, a new point on the Qantas network, with daily connections from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth via Singapore. Cairns, Darwin and Adelaide will also benefit with excellent connections," he said.
