Hi all,

I thought I would post something I found about JASAs. Knowing how incredible the knowledge base is here, it has probably been discussed already, but I thought I would mention it anyway.

If you were to book a SIN-SYD JASA it would cost circa 90K. Using the method of reducing the points down to a classic award point level found in the sticky posts above, it would reduce it down to 60K.

However if you book a SIN-ADL JASA it is also around 90K but you can then bring it down to the classic award point level of only 50K.

Check the T&C that a stopover is allowed before booking. Only if a stopover is allowed then finalise your booking. At this point you can then phone the call centre to change the date of your SYD-ADL leg to wherever, ie a few days/weeks/months later. You should then only need to pay the cost of the airport taxes. We did this for our flight (which was via BNE instead) and it was only $35 in extra taxes for the 3 of us.

I thought that this would be perfect for anyone wanting/needing to gains few extra SCs.

And please no digs about why would anyone want to go to Adelaide. I may not live there but I am still a little bit protective about my old hometown. :)

I guess the only problem is that as of 14APR13 QF81/82 will cease to be routed via ADL, meaning that a JASA (at least on QF metal) from/via ADL to SIN will no longer be possible.

Oh sorry - maybe I didn't explain myself properly so I will try with an example. I have picked a random date in October.

A JASA for SIN-SYD on QF6 is 98,089 points, or 60,000 + $478.34 SGD. This should earn 120 SC.

A JASA for SIN-SYD-ADL on QF6 & QF747 is 91,414, or 50,000 + $496.41. This should earn 120+60=180 SC.

All you need to do is phone up to change the date for the SYD-ADL leg to another weekend when doing a status run or holiday is more convenient.

I assume this also works in reverse although I have not checked this.

Sorry about the late reply - I have only just seen your reply.
I am not sure as I have not tried to book it again as I am not in the need for it yet. I guess you could do a dummy booking and read the T&C of the booking.
I am finally doing the last leg of my original booking in a couple of weeks. Off to Adelaide I go....

Is this still available?

As JASAs now have to be booked through the call centre instead of online you will need to ask the consultant if a stopover is possible. Then make sure they are part of the confirmation email should you book the flights.

Nice tip BTW. :)

:)

sorry, can someone explain please? Does JASA stand for business class any seat award ? If yes, how can you find such cheap booking?

when I search for a flight SYD-SIN on 6th Sept and then tick the view in points box, it costs 411,000 points !!!!

Or does JASA mean business class in classic award as that is only 60K.

thanks

Step 1, search for a classic award available business class seat on the route you want,
Step 2, on finding availability, ring the number and ask to do a booking for an any seat booking into U or uniform class.

thanks for posting that and I just read through the simplified instructions.

So two more questions:

1. if I already have a Classic Award flight booked in J class, can I get it changed to Any seat award ? Or do I have to cancel and then strat from scratch ?

2. why would they let you book ASA at classic award cost over the phone ? I dont understand this what is the incentive for QF to do this. Obviously there is massive benefit to thetraveller as on ASA you will get the points and SCs vs on classic you get nothing. Im just confused about this bit.

cheers again
