Japan & other Airlines with FREE overnight accomodation

A few years ago I traveled to US with JAL
which included 23 hours, of overnight stay with breakfeast.
Food was great, service even better and I got to see Tokyo.

Does any other airline provide a stop over on the way to Europe ?

I have been considering a trip to Europe (Frankfurt) later in 2011 and have noticed this deal from Korean Air as shown on the Best Flights website. As an example from Melbourne, it is a daytime flight up to ICN, with an overnight stop in Korea, then an early-afternoon departure the next day with an early-evening arrival into Germany so it is all daytime flying. I know there have been warnings on this site about booking through Best Flights but this at least shows the accommodation offer still exists.

My brother flew JAL from SYD-LHR with a stopover in Tokyo included in the price, which was great and around $1900. He arrived in Tokyo about 5pm and departed the next day about midday, and included transfers/breakfast. I assume they have the same route with stopover (maybe not price), but other carriers would no doubt provide a similar stopover situation in different cities.

We flew JAL Y+ to Europe in September and our accommodation at the Hotel Nikko Narita was included on the way over (but no breakfast). This didn't matter as we enjoyed breakfast in the Sakura Lounge.

We also overnighted in SYD as our CBR flight would not have arrived in time for the early departure. JAL also had a promo for Y+ passengers which included Sydney Airport Stamford Hotel and transfers which I found on their website a month before we left. What a bonus!

Qatar Airways provides accommodation in Doha for layovers > 8 hours.

JAL business flights also include all meals on the stopovers.

I know that Etihad and/or Emirates provided fully paid stop-overs for J class passengers on their way to Europe.

Although they don't provide accommodation, Icelandair will let you stopover for free in Reykjavik on trans-Atlantic routes. And their prices are fantastic anyway so the money you save with them could go towards your accommodation.

Flew JAL Business CBR-SYD-LHR in May a good choice, very good on board service and put up at Stamford in SYD and Nikko in TYO with dinner and breaky and all transfers. Two "day" flights over a real bonus as you arrive LHR around 1700 having left TYO at noon.

Main drawback is 5 hour transit in TYO on return journey and two overnight flights. However, latter are difficult to avoid flying SYD-LHR return.

Malaysian airlines and i think it was either Qatar or Etihad were offering free side trips.
For Malaysian they would fly you to some beachside area but accomodation was up to you.
The middle east option was a side trip to Oman. In the end QF had flights at the right price and into Frankfurt for my Eastern Europe trip next year.

We flew Korean Air to London Via Seoul in January this year. My first time with KA- they were fantastic to fly with.
Also, they put us up in a 4 star hotel, with dinner and breakfast and transfers both ways.
We got to see a little bit of Korea and it broke up the flight. Would definately do it again- nothing like singing Karaoke with the Koreans!

One tip- you have to ask for the accomodation. Our agent- Jetabroad (also quite good) advised us to ring Korean Air to ask- which we did.

Hmm I'll keep an eye on this thread ... I'm looking at heading to europe next year and would love a quick stopover somewhere different on the way through.

I flew Korean Airlines about 10 years ago, had a 6 or 8 hour transit (can't remember which it was). Anyways, KA put me up in a 4 star hotel. Transfers included (mini bus). Flew in Y. Booked through a TA @ Airlie Beach. I was very happy with KA. Service was great and so was the food! I would fly with them again.

A couple of weeks ago I had an overnight in Bangkok. A ten minute drive away I stayed at the Airport Avion hotel for $60 which was a brand new self contained 1 BR apartment, cooked breakfast, internet and shuttle both ways to the airport.
Most places in Asia are quite cheap so factor that in when shopping for the best airfare. Most airlines have a free stopover or if you have a long wait between flights it is worth it, avoid hotels in the airport though unless the company is paying.
