Hi all,
First time poster - long time lurker.
This is more aimed at the NB's and PS's who are on JAL and don't have OW automatic lounge access, the Sakura lounge is worth the 5k yen outlay at check in!
Me and a friend, both NB, where up-sold on it as part of our paid Y - > PY upgrade for 30,000 yen, even though not advertised (if interested, make sure you ask - still not sure if it's just if you buy the PY upgrade?). It's similar to QF dom business lounge (IMO) and, as you would expect the service is A grade! Top shelf booze - I recommend the Hibiki Suntory 17 old Japanese Whisky, as well as excellent food; (good) miso soup or beef curry (brilliant!).
Taking the paid upgrade is worth it IMO, especially for the extra leg room and a wider seat (JAL is narrow for obvious reasons) for a 6 foot 4 guy on a 10 hour flight is like christmas coming early for under AU$500! Even more satisfying was bulk head seats (row 17 on the 777) with even more leg room!
So far I've been very satisfied with JAL!
