Does anyone know what the earn rate is for a Super Saver J Class ticket on JAL?

I've read a few conflicting reports, that a discounted J class earns the same rate as a discounted economy, or that it earns a normal standard rate.

Does anyone have experience with a Super Saver J Class fare and the earn rate on it?

I'm booking a flight from KMQ - HND and trying to earn at least 10SC to meet this membership years WP.

This thread might be of some use: QF status earn on JAL

From what I can make out, Class J super saver earns economy (not to be confused with ‘J class’ which would traditionally indicate a business class fare, on domestic routes JAL calls it’s premium economy ‘Class J’)

When are you flying? I've got a Super Saver Class J flight (CTS-KIX) booked in Jan '26, so can report back then regarding how it earns.

Did a bit of research when I booked and couldn't find a definitive answer either - other than that it'll be economy of some sort, rather than business.

I would NOT bank on earning anything from this flight. There is no consistency in how domestic JAL fares credit, and Qantas has finally acknowledged that in recent months with this addition to the JAL earn table.

Important information regarding flights within Japan

Please note: The booking class information shown for Japan Airlines flights within Japan is a guide only. You really need to work out the fare class code, and then look up what that earns on the QF tables.

I think the above note more refers to JAL Domestic J and F upgrade fares, which do these days earn quite differently to the notional flown class.

Yep. I wonder if JAL contact centre could clarify the fare class, or if it’s the case that their domestic booking system doesn’t use them?

I doubt they could accurately predict how the JAL website would act. I've booked two identical Class J fare types on the same route (HND-CTS and CTS-HND) and they each booked into a different fare bucket/basis. You can see the fare basis on the boarding pass after check-in.

Perhaps they could book the fares over the phone though.

You can certainly book via an OTA if you don't mind paying the inflated GDS fares.

I did make a reservation without paying for a Class J flight on the Special Saver fare type which gave me a reservation code. I'll either live chat or call JAL tomorrow and see what information they can pull from it. Will keep you up to date.

Annoying but it is what it is!
