JAL business class Melbourne - Tokyo. Is it worth it?

so whats everyones thoughts on best product to Japan atm, i got a qantas points redemption with jal mel-tokyo nrt for feb next year but if i find something better i could always cancel, although i got a ticket for my partner and i which is rare i think two find two seats in business.
Taxes were less than a qantas flight but qantas product better? Thoughts?

This has just been announced for Sydney, reported in the Age yesterday...

Sydney getting the 773 is quite old news - the schedules were published last year, and the F cabin went on sale over a month ago. So far it's only operating the route until Nov 2024 but it could be extended.

There will be further 773s freed up this year. Even if it doesn't make it onto MEL-NRT, it could free up refurbed 788 and 789 frames which hopefully reduces the chance of the Shell Flat Neo on a 10 hour flight.

Personal preference but my hard product priority would be: JAL Sky Suite (what's scheduled now) > QF J > JAL Sky Suite III > JAL Shell Flat Neo

Taking into account meals, service and wifi, my overall preference would be: JAL Sky Suite > JAL Sky Suite III > QF J > JAL Shell Flat Neo

The upside to QF J is that non-status pax have a better chance of getting a window seat, but if you're travelling with a partner you might prefer the middle seats anyway.
