This is what I found-

I have confirmed and ticketed my redemption booking but I would like to cancel it now. How should I go about it?

If the ticket for your redemption booking has been issued, but it has not been used, please call KrisFlyer Membership Services to cancel the booking. Miles will only be re-deposited into your KrisFlyer account if they are still valid and have not expired. A service fee will apply, and is chargeable at 5,000 KrisFlyer miles / USD50 for KrisFlyer members, or 2,500 miles / USD25 for KrisFlyer Elite and PPS Club members.
If the cancellation of ticket is within 24 hours of the scheduled flight departure, a cancellation fee of 7,500 miles / USD75 will also apply, in addition to the service fee above."

If you book online, I think you can cancel online also and fee is 3,000 KF miles or $30USD , according to service fee schedule (figures are pts/dollars for KF members, KF silver and KFgold/PPS/Solitaire):
Redeposit miles of completely unused tickets (subject to validity of miles) online 3,000 30 1,500 15 1,500 15
Redeposit miles of completely unused tickets (subject to validity of miles) offline 5,000 50 2,500 25 2,500 25

The other gotcha is that I'd need to fly into FRA rather than AMS...... decisions.....

I have a trip planned to BNE-ZRH early next year and I'm going to go via FRA just so I can get 1 sector in F. It is worth it if you have the points.

Another consideration I'd like to put in is to consider doing the redemption with SQ as a Star Alliance redemption. You will miss out on the 15% online discount but you will be able to tack on the extra sector from FRA-LHR on LH in J (or F?).

As for the J/F Saver waitlist it will only take 2-3 days to see if it comes through and the wait is worth the points savings.

Excellent! I wonder if there's any charges for date changes.

I'm going to spend 2 weeks travelling around before I enter LON anyway as my working Visa won't be valid till then so will probably settle on just flying into FRA :)

Thanks for all the advice so far guys! I think I'll book now.

Perhaps you can count your time in FRA as your stopover.

Current plan is to travel around Germany a little, then head down to Belgium, and then make my way to LON from there so probably would have to backtrack too much to get back to FRA. It's only a short flight from FRA-LHR anyway so not really worth it I'd think.

Is this the F cabin?

Also, if I did do the J saver to AMS it wouldn't be regional config would it?

That is indeed the F cabin (not that I've flown in it).

The J seat to AMS would not be the old regional config. It will either be the spacebeds (angled lie flat beds, cloth seats) of old on the 777-200ER or (I think they are refitting their 777-200ER's as well) the new regional J which is basically leather versions of the spacebed (angled lie flat) with upgraded Krisworld IFE.

Thanks.

That is indeed the F cabin (not that I've flown in it, but have walked past it many times). On FT seems to be a lot of nostalgia for it, and many highly recommend it.

When I did the SIN-AMS flight I had the old seat. In my case I slept very nicely.

Biggest thing for me was the old school IFE.

On my last trip to Europe I didn't use anything except the flight map on the IFE, so no real issues there

Transferred miles across from MR yesterday, arrived today and have submitted the booking. Just waiting on the PER-SIN waitlist to hopefully clear :)
