It's Back. 10 bonus Amex points per $ at Hotel Club

I am guessing ANZ FF cards are ineligible as they do not earn "Membership Rewards" points as such but rather earns QF points.

Yes, I agree. Yet, ANZ _is_ sending the flyer out to its Branded AMEX card holders. Hotelclub on the other hand do not seem aware of this relationship and don't respond to email about it. ANZ themselves, well the CSR's I've spoken to in person, are extremely guarded and tell me essentially its not their issue but a "cards" issue and I should call them - which I have done but to no advancement.

It shouldn't be this hard and smells like error/false advertising to me. In any event, I ran out of energy on the matter and have a pretty low opinion of ANZ in any event so let the idea go.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Is there an easy way to chase them? I am not looking forward to making the phone call:-|

Not that I can see.

If I were going to book something via hotelclub and by so doing miss out on the points I'd get from the hotel via their own scheme by booking direct I'd damn well better be sure of getting the hotelclub points or I'd be mightily miffed.

If I really felt it were worth pursuing I guess I'd ring the ANZ cards helpline with the flyer in front of me and have them send me by email/Fax/Post a statement that verifies their brochure. Seriously doubt they'd agree to that, or even if they did I wouldn't expect anything to come of it. Keep ringing though until you get what you want.

My guess is that after you've wasted a few hours of your life on this you'll probably get an apology from the bank for their error along with some thanks and assurance they will pull it from the next advertising mail-out.

I'd try to get a response from ANZ in writing, so why not email them using SecureMail via internet banking?

Good idea; I had already e-mailed hotelclub so I will wait to see if I get a reply and then e-mail ANZ.

Will let you know if I get any joy.

I just tried to take advantage of the 10 points per $ on a serviced apartment in Melbourne for a few days. The first apartment I tried was showing availability on other sites but not on HotelClub, and they couldn't tell me why. So I found another one that looked good and showed availability, did a quick price comparison and found it $62 per night cheaper on another site. I contacted HotelClub about the best rate guarantee but they were trying all sorts of excuses about why it wasn't eligible; in the end I booked on agoda instead.

I used to find HotelClub quite competitive, I guess times have changed. I would rather $180 in my pocket than 5,000 points.

Like you, I've found it's a bit of a gamble as to if it'll be available or cheaper on HotelClub, but there's now 5 points on Hotels.com as well. It's not as good as the HotelClub offer, but I've found Hotels.com to be much more reliable for getting good rates and just general service and friendly-ness of the interface. Plus the points are added to your account straight away, with the transaction itself and it seems to happen flawlessly every time.

Well I gave up on hotelclub and rang ANZ. Spoke to a lovely lady who promised to ring me back within 48 hours. Got a call from her the next morning to confirm some details; then about an hour later she rang again and advised that all appeared to be in order but it can take up to 10 weeks for hotelclub to post the points:!: Still waiting, waiting, waiting,................

I am not at all impressed with hotelclub and will be unlikely to try this offer again; but must add that I was very impressed with the response from ANZ on this occasion.

Thanks for coming back to this thread with your experience. Helps us all. Like you, I smell a rat and don't have time to chase this particular one down. Good to see something positive about ANZ though.

I just appeared to get one lot of points today about 7 weeks after my booking without chasing it up with Hotel Club... maybe there is hope yet?

FWIW, I tried booking Hilton South Wharf on Friday for a Saturday stay and the page just throw up error after error. I'll never use the page again as it was horribly designed.

While I didn't get the points.. my sanity is worth more!

I was also told by Marketing that this is extended until the 31st March 2012 :mrgreen:

Just out of curiosity, did anyone with an ANZ Amex receive any bonus QFF points for HotelClub recently?

Although ANZ no longer advertise them as an Amex bonus points partner; I've within the last 48 hours had 6k bonus points credited and the only thing I can think of is HotelClub bookings... (these books would probably have been about 4-5 months old and I'd given up on ever seeing the points)

No joy for me!
