So, that's all gone. All I get is a voucher and being back at work on my two days off. That's life for you. ^first world problems^

Did you call Qantas as ask for Original Routing credit?

Hey, JohnK.

Yes, I have. I explained the situation on three different occasions, but I was told I'm not eligible. I asked if it was possible to at least cut me some slack and let me slide for a couple of weeks as I was willing to rebook the trip for mid May, but that isn't an option either. So I'm stuck with no points I was supposed to get and will not get Gold. Honestly, I didn't expect the ORC, but no willingness whatsoever to show some understanding on Qantas' part was a downer.

I've got flights booked to Europe, I fly Qantas for work (which they complimented going through my profile) etc, but it's obviously not enough. I might not be a big fish when it comes to flying, but I was honestly hoping Qantas would show a bit more understanding. I know it's nature's work and no one can do anything, but my trip's gone, my birthdays's gone, my leave's gone and my Gold's gone.

^rant over^

I'm glad everyone's okay.

When does your year end? May?

Use the voucher to book some fights on weekends? I believe there is a sale on now covering May and June.

No, 30/04. I'm flying on the 19th, on the 25th and then again on the 27th, but that's only short flights (20 SC each).

I only have Friday off, and I'd have to add another 500 bucks for a flight on that day ^and^ get back in time for my 3 AM flight on Saturday...

That is a shame.

I stupidly left myself 210 SCs short of Platinum + Partner Gold by end of May. I have paid ~$1,200 to get those 210 SCs exactly. The 50,000 QFF points gift should mean I almost break even.

It's good to hear you managed to get it.

I tried to squeeze something else in, but it just didn't work. I had it all planned out with this trip to CNS, but it was obviously out of my hands. I'm pretty much over it now, as I'll hardly get a chance to get that close anytime soon (I know I won't push as hard for any extra flights).

Once again, thanks for all the advice.

the flights that you already have, is there a way to make them indirect and get the extra SC's with keeping the same destinations? or while your at the airport (arriving after those trips) would you want to tack on a return trip to somewhere before leaving the airport? I don't know how important getting gold is to you and it sounds like you don't want to bother. Obviously not getting a birthday trip is a downer. It was my birthday on the 12th and I got a surprise trip (and thankfully it was to NZ and not up north) so I think I stole your birthday trip without knowing - sorry about that - mine was great lol. we still have 1160 SC to requal for WP tho and the +1's year ends 30 June, not that much SC earning flying this year.

Hi, shellthom.

I've browsed the forum and exhausted all the options, so I've pretty much given up – maybe that's why it sounds like I don't want to bother (unlike a couple of months ago, when I was planning this trip). I've only got around 20 hours in between flights, and am not flying back until 11 May, so I don't see a way. I can't upgrade on the flight either, as it's for work. I get Flex tickets as is, so that's it as far as that goes.

Happy belated birthday – I'm glad someone had a good time. ;) I'll probably rebook these to go to New Zealand instead (but Flex doesn't really pay off, as international flights show up as Discount Economy).

Hopefully all the work trips and private overseas trips get me into Gold in the following year, but honestly, this whole thing just bummed me out completely. That should teach me not to plan things ahead, and not to count on things until they actually happen.

Thanks for the tips, shellthom.

Cheers,
Polar
