QF Domestic Upgrade glitch

I had this issue this week. I cancelled the first request then put in another. Still no joy. Then pretty much gave up but kept the request active. Checked in for first leg the day before (no request made for that leg) and instantly received the upgrade text for the return flight.

Re: QF Domestic Upgrade glitch

There is a known issue with QF domestic upgrades. If there is no availability at the time of requesting an upgrade, you'll be put on a waitlist. However, you aren't automatically given the seat if more availability is released before the flight.
So does this mean if you don't have an EF subscription you pretty much won't know if your waitlisted request should be clearing or not?

An EF alert would be useful in informing you as soon as award space is released. But checking for business award seats on the flight (on the QF website) should give an accurate indication of whether or not the upgrade will clear.

Thanks! Tried that and the flights I'm presently booked on aren't even showing up in the search results?!

If you let me know which flights you're on I can do an Expert Flyer search for you.

No U (award/upgrade) availability on either of the flights at the moment, but I would imagine some would be released later as J looks fairly lightly loaded on both flights so far. Perhaps check back in about a month.

Not quite - you can always check if there is classic award availability as a cheat guide - if there is availability the upgrade requests should be cleared.
