Is this enough time for LAX transfer?

My wife and I are flying to the US with Hawaiian Airlines for Xmas/New Year. We arrive in LAX at 9:20PM and are considering booking a flight to Chicago with AA that departs LAX at 23:55. We've heard stories about the delays at LAX which I guess have gotten even worse now with the sequester. Though I think a lot of these stories relate to clearing US Immigration, which we will have already done at HNL earlier that day.

Given we will be taking a domestic to ORD from LAX, have we left sufficient time between flights (assuming we do go ahead and book AA1092)?

Thanks, Dom

Provided the HA flight is on time, and that you can get HA to interline the bags ex HNL, you should be fine. If you have to collect bags and re-check, that's a different matter .....

Serfty, HA2 arrives at Terminal 2

According to my handy FlightTrack app, AA1092 departs from Terminal 4

Done the T2 - run myself.

Of you can check your luggage all the way then you still need to collect it, pass customs, then redeposit it.

If you can check the luggage through it's a short "A" bus ride to T4.

Thanks everyone. John, I called Hawaiian and they said it was not possible to add the AA flight (to take advantage of the 'interline' arrangements) as our HA flights are already ticketed. She said we could ask about having the bags routed to Chicago at the time of checkin, but it was at their discretion. Actually the HA website clearly says they no longer do this as of 1/7/12 unless the flights are on the same ticket.

Can't your TA add a 'passive' or 'ghost' segment - this will then show up in the booking on check in.

In any case, it's a short 10 minute trip from T2 to T4 via the 'A' bus - it departs from the blue marked areas here (in fact, you could take a 'C' bus as well as your stops are within the anticlockwise airport loop.):

Tips: If you have bags, take the external doors for the lift up to T4 check-in.
