Is there a list anywhere of the hotels used for quarantine, and when?

Just got a tentative booking for Sydney (Four Points Central Park) for December - hoping we can fly MEL-SYD by then - cancelled because apparently they've been press-ganged into quarantine.

I also would like to book somewhere in Melbourne for a staycation soon, and the missus would like to avoid quarantine hotels where possible.

The Novotel South Bank isn't a quarantine hotel, but I am in quarantine in Rydges Fortitude Valley right now.

Seriously, though, once a hotel reverts to something else, what's the risk? I'm not a medico (would be good if one chipped in) but I have been reading for months that the virus doesn't linger long outside the people who have it, and fomite transmission isn't a significant source of infection anyway.

Its a difficult choice.
Do we go and book a totally new hotel, one that has not been used as a covid (medi) hotel, or one that has been used as that, and has been "cleaned".
If I am not wrong, supposedly the South African one (Covid) is the most transmittable.
Newer hotel, that has not been used as a quaro (as you put it) hotel, most like the Sofitel Adelaide, or Eos (Adelaide Casino), will be very expensive.
I have stayed at the Mercure on Therry, and really like it, for its central spot, but it has been used as a quaro hotel, as is the Holiday Inn Melbourne Airport and the city one.
Don't know if I will want to stay with these again.
Will have to do some deep looks into hotels, the next time I going to Melbourne.
Touch wood, hope the Novotel South Bank Brisbane/Rydges Fortitude Valley haven't been used as these.

Novotel south bank Brizvegas definitely not being used. Stayed there a week or so ago

Serious.
I like that hotel, because if you stay there when there is no Ekka occasion going on, and that oval in the front of the hotel is not being used, its quite quiet.
Not too much of the yahoo element, that hotel is quite far from any train stations, and there is also not a regular bus stop close by, the only major one is at the RBWH, or the minor one before that interchange.
Have stayed at that Rydges 3 or 4 times, and the rates have been about $185 or so, for a bit of peace and quiet, its good, quite new too.
Don't think the hotel is double glazed.
If there are things/occasions going on across the street, yes, it can be quite noisy, but still better than staying in the real noisy CBD of Brisbane.
Yes, I know the Valley has certain connotations to it.

No, not double glazed, but it's dead quiet here on the 5th floor. The room lighting is good too, easy to choose between bright and dim (Pet hate: dim only).

Wasn't enthralled at the idea of two weeks here, but the place has grown on me. Rydges Stockholm syndrome perhaps.

We have friends with a baby coming in shortly and they are hoping they get the Meriton for the kitchen/ washing facilities

I say again, (maybe) after a deep clean, its safe to stay at a Covid quaro hotel, much later on, but still whose ever idea it was to/decided to do it in the first place needs a psychologist appointment.

Chances are that they may very well get it. Our bus stopped and dropped 1 family of 5 (3 young kids) at Meriton Suites and another family of 4 (with 1 young kid and a baby of 6 mths) at Mantra and all couples and singles at Novotel

Something worth trying.....
When we got out of the terminal where the buses were you approached a desk where the police officers were. The Senior one will direct you to a particular bus.
It seems to me that he has the discretion so it is worth asking him to be sent to Meriton Suite accommodation. Explain the circumstances. It is a fair request. Nothing venture nothing gain. Worst case scenario is that you get what was allocated to you in the first place.

Complains of ciggie smoke being moved/shared between rooms, on floors.
Denials of risk all around, but that family doing their 8th day of quar(o) at Meriton on Sussex, in the end were moved.

Interesting, maybe NSW should follow VIC’s lead and do ventilation testing...

The family were moved, as they allege that their neighboring room occupier were smoking ciggies, and so, if you or they could smell ciggie smoke, and none in that family smoked, it meant that the air wasn't good, or clean, and so Covid could be transmitted.
Every one in authority seems to think/deem that a deep clean, what ever that means will stop Covid, maybe it will, maybe it won't, but who ulimately knows.
Pity that they decided to use hotels in the first place, and they now won't say for sure, which hotels are in the "list".
So when every Aussie has gotten vaccinated, except anti vaxxers, can we have confidence that hotels are then, there by clean to stay in?
Tough/hard call to make.
Hotels make money by accepting themselves as Covid quar(o) places, then they or the govt says, trust us(!).
Guess in the end, we as possible hotel guests will have no choice, as so many hotels in Melbourne/Sydney/Brisbane were/are used as quar(o) hotels/or Medihotels in South Aust.
Without a list, we are all taking chances.

336 hours is a drawback. BNE I checked in at 130 after a 2230 arrival, (first night) and could have checked out any time after midnight on the 14th day. Effectively turning 14 days into 13 days.
