Is there a good alternative to QFF?

I guess I am like the majority of people here (based on the poll) who hate the QFF changes and consider moving to another FF. But what is a good alternative for oneworld affiliated FF?

In my case, my travel is mostly in Asia Pacific by QF/CX/SQ, so my immediate option is to consider CX, but from my quick oomparison, I am not convinced that CX Asia Miles/Marcopolo is better than QFF. Here is my key conclusion ...

QFF will burn more points than MCP (roughly 1.5x, eg SYD-HK 60K QFF vs 45K MCP), but on elite level also earn more points than MCP. MCP doesn't provide elite bonus. With my QFF Gold, I earn 50% elite bonus, so I figure my points earning is also 1.5x MCP. So although I am losing out from the QFF changes, I am not much better with the alternative.

Do I miss some key considerations? What are the rest of you considering with your FF move decision? There must be more to this that I am sure I have missed out.

Perhaps United Mileage Plus is a better go. They have partner deals with both CQ, TG and NZ, so a fair bit of the Asia Pacific is covered there

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

While you may earn more points on QF with your status, they are next to useless as QF never has flights between HKG/SYD. I asked when the next available seat was a few weeks ago, and they told me February. Cathay had plenty of availability.

If CX have these seats SYD-HKG, you'll be able to book these for 70K return. (2 x Zone3 from the oneworld Award table) Not good, but this still needs be factored in to calculations.

CX don't have elite bonus earning yet, but I'd say 'watch this space'. SQ do it as well as QF so with their recent changes, I'd expect CX and SQ will be on the hunt for you previously loyal QF flyers.

MPO have regular events for their elite members throughout Australia and provide toll-free access to their call centre in HKG.

Got a corporate deal? Contact you local CX sales office and get one - see if they'll do a "like for like" direct entry to the Marco Polo club for you and your colleagues.

They've just gone tripple daily ex SYD, double ex MEL and daily from BNE so pleanty of frequency and probably some deals with the added capacity.

AND - the best part, when you're travelling to/thru HKG, you can guy SIMULATOR FLIGHTS with your points. This truly is the best seat in the house and a benefit you only get through loyalty!
