Is the weather at OOL airport that bad?

They will not re-book without additional cost if not a flexible airfare.

Yes they will:

In fact, they suggest some flights may fly to BNE rather than OOL. May work perfectly for you!

Guests with travel arrangements to Queensland cities from 25 January until Monday 28 January (inclusive) are able to change bookings without penalty to another travel date prior to Monday 4 February* or cancel their flight and receive a travel credit for the value of their flight.

The key here is another travel date or credit value for the flight. I do not need either.

Note SYD-OOL on QF for tomorrow afternoon is $139 and the VA flight is a $39 special so not much of a credit voucher.

I shall take a print out of website and go back to lounge desk....

I do not need either.

To be fair, I can't see that they can do much else. Perhaps insurance and an understanding boss/client? I'm sure you won't be the only one struggling to get to work.

Do you have Scotties number? Maybe Cap't Kirk will allow a special one off "Beam me up" plea!

Well the weather has just trashed my 6 burner weber.....unbelievable wind gust just picked it up & dumped it off the deck:shock:

No way I'd get on a plane!

my god!!!!

it must be bad. just watching SKY news talking about the BNE river rising and all the other issues.

stay safe guys

See if you can talk them into a SYD-BNE reroute.
Not possible.

First she asked if fare was flexible. Then she said that Sabre would not allow changes. Then I showed her a copy Virgin website and she looked at it for around 30 seconds and said "which part do you want me to read?". So I said "Advice on cancellations and changes". And she just looked at me. So I read it out to her and she says OK. So I ask to re-route to BNE and she says NO.

So much for compassion in difficult times. I know she is only one person but this is not customer service even if I am totally wrong....

If you don't mind landing in 38 knots of crosswind with some downwind on a wet runway be my guest:
SIGWX: SEV TURB FCST BLW 5000 FEET

You forgot the severe turbulence below 5000 feet. Doesn't sound like a lot of fun to me.

Frequent travellers would know airport staff have restricted options, versus calling the premium desk, not sure why you bothered?

My past few experiences with Virgin call centre have been less than satisfactory and airport staff have been proactive recently so thought I would give it a go. Not here though. I was totally wrong.

Anyway I had a lovely catchup with serfty who I have not seen in a while. ;) And I have had free food and drinks for the past couple of hours....

MEL sunny and 24 degrees today. Hope that makes y'all feel a little better.

No...we now have 3 buckets collecting water from downlights and a retaining wall has moved so that a gate doesn't close

They just showed footage of a plane taking off at OOL on Nine news. All I can say is that you could not pay me to be on that flight. I have been through some terible winds being a regular at Wellington airport but this looked much worse.

Looked very much like this Extremely High Wind Landing Calgary - YouTube but taking off not landing.

Front door doesn't close, have water leaking through 3 separate parts of the 100+yr house. Cats going mad. Poor baby birds in nest outside having a wild ride.

At least power still on, knock on wood!

Was even better than that last Sunday on the GC for the Big Day Out.. & this Sunday the whole region is just a Huge Windy & Wash Out..
How very GC :D

Been onto AAMI, looks like I'm set "new for old" - $500 excess. No brainer considering the cost of a decent Weber......mine was 10 years old!

Need to go and check out the Weber range:D

Eep! Glad we decided to drive home from the coast this afternoon. OK when we left, but the rain got hesver the closer we got to Brisbane. My SIL said the wind later this afternoon was so strong at Mooloolaba there was foam from the surf being splattered against the windows of the 4th floor apartment they were staying in (behind the caravan park & park area).
