Is ten days in New York too long

A bit more information would be helpful, thanks.
There is a link in my original post and pj also provided a link - do a little research to confirm / decide if you want to try it.

FWIW we walked the high line yesterday and dropped off on 15th St. - so a simple walk then to check out the other Lillies est on 17th St. - it looks identical inside just much smaller - so the 49th St outlet is the one to go to.

We returned to the 49th St outlet after dinner last night and shared a 1/2 bott Piper @ $40 - reasonable value for the area. Lillies was just as staggeringly beautiful second visit as it was 1st visit - I have a gazillion pics but they just cannot do justice to the grandeur - just do not miss it.

Did you enjoy the Highline walk? I think it's fun for people watching, as much as anything else. We "attended" a wedding on one of our visits a couple of years ago, along with a changing crowd of stroller/onlookers and buskers. Quite entertaining.

Did we enjoy the high line? Loved it! The High Line | Friends of the High Line

Have we enjoyed every second of every activity in NY so far? Loved it?

Is ten days in NY too long? Impossible! Or else seek psychiatric help!

Then we are kindred spirits on that one!
We will be there again in a week or so. Sadly, for only the briefest of visits this time. But way better than no visit at all. :)

Look forward to hearing your report, I'll be in New York (for the first time) in April 2015 planning to stay 7 nights.
You will love it - totally civilised City - only one minor downer and that is quality and price of wine in restaurants - Australia leaves it for dead - but it is New York - OMG we love it here.

Cruiser, if you get time go to Katz deli on east houston, best rueben sandwich in the world, and check out eisenburgs deli next to the flat iron building, awesome breakfast. Russ and daughters on east houston is also a must, easily the best bagels in the world, and Keens chop house has ridiculous mutton shops as their specialty.

Also - I haven't booked my accom yet but am considering the meatpacking district, is this a good area to stay in for a first time NYC visitor ? What are other members thoughts ? Thanks

I fully understand that we are ALL individuals and we ALL like different things and have vastly different tastes - but I must give one piece of advice to ALL males here on AFF - when in New York DO NOT allow your women folk to stroll 5th Ave on a shopping spree - it can lead to only one outcome:

Nizar we were in exactly the same position you are in. It had been21+yrs since we were last in NY - and we had no idea where to stay.

The only criteria I started out with was it had to be central so walking virtually all of uptown and downtown was possible - and our accommodation had to be roomy - and had to be 4* or better.

I am not an apartment guy so it was hotels only - finally settled on DoubleTree Suites right on Times Square. Not cheap - but it did tick the boxes - apart from some minor glitches the stay nigh on perfect to date.

But you will need to research and research - keep asking as you have - try on FT also - but you are going to need to put in the leg work - nothing any good comes easy my friend. (Well except FF bonus pts on CC issue - money for jam in those cases) - good luck with your search - do bear in mind you are coming to New York - your experience here in this wonderful city with multitudes of magnificent experiences is the main game - your accom simply allows you to re-charge for next days assault.

YES I know we all like good digs - but when you do make decision stand by it and just enjoy your time here - you are going to love it.

Tonight we are off to McSorley's Old Ale House.
Well that was an experience - how shall I put this - you would never want to miss a bar that had basically stayed exactly same for 150yrs - a bar in which the likes of John Lennon and Abe Lincoln drank - it is is certainly an experience.

But plan only to visit for an hour or so and for drinks only - they serve beer only - but you get to choose light or dark beer :D - no other liquor of any type offered - you can buy soft drink. Do not plan eating here - food sh*tful to abominable - but IMHO an experience in NY not to be missed.

Yes, great bar and still sawdust on the floor!

Going to take advantage of early bird fares, had to move trip back 3 weeks however save around $1,200 in fares plus accommodation in New York in August much cheaper than September, but from what I can gather weather is more humid.

Strolling over the Brooklyn Bridge then enjoying lunch/dinner at The River Cafe The River Café | Home is also a great way to enjoy NCY.

Totally endorse this comment. The other wonderful thing about NYC are the bar staff. And we had an amazing barman here for a number of reasons.

We walked across the bridge in late afternoon (which is agreat experience in itself), and originally just popped into the River Cafe to have a hot chocolate or similar on what was quite a "brisk" day in November.

Our barman explained that we could not have one as the last person to operate the machine had met a grisly and bloody end and that he was keen to avoid a similar fate....but advised that he made a mean coughtail. So we allowed him to tempt us, and that was one of our best decisions we made on that visit. He had an amazingly dry and wicked sense of humour, which had us cracking up, but which seemed to just go over the heads of the other patrons most of whom did not stay for long.

So we had our own private comedian floorshow, adding to what is one of the world's truly great views.

The added bonus was that he seemed to warm to us as we "got" his jokes and as we engaged in jokes and conversation. Our intended 30 minute break grew into about 3 hours. That first coughtail my wife bought, became a never ending one that he just kept topping up for free whenever he made another patron a coughtail, which was often!!!. I mainly drank beers...but only about one in three went on my tab. Needless to say we left a generous tip when we finally left bursting with smiles, full of good humour...and yes no doubt a bit wobbly in our gait!

We occupied the bar stools 3rd and 4th from the left. This had a great view not only across the river of NYC, but also looking to the left across the harbour to the Statue of Liberty, which when we were there had the sun setting exactly on her upthrust torch making for a wonderful view .

Watching all the lights come on in NYC as the night deepened was magical.

Actually very humid and hot, hence the cheaper off season prices. Just take lots of cotton clothes, sun cream and water bottles.
