Is Qantas Epicure good value?

Hi as a newly minted Amex credit card holder I get complementary Epicure membership. What are the thoughts around value proposition especially if bonus points are involved. Thanks for any insights.

It’s really a simple matter of maths.
Work out what you’re prepared to pay for QFF points. Find the wine promotion bonus points) which appeals. Calculate the cost of the points. The wine and the convenience of home delivery and make a judgement call. I view some of the bonus point offers (when combined with the base points and CC points) to be almost like getting wine for free. ...... well as a bonus anyway

My opinion is that generally the epiQure wines offered are of a better quality than those of mainy similar home delivery purveyors - but you do pay for it.

The best value can be gained when bonus points are on offer.

E.g. a $300 case may come with 10,000 bonus points - to me that many points can be worth $200 or more, so it would be a deal I would consider.

We buy almost exclusively from Epiquire for our day to day stuff , we rely on a Buzz wine tour for everything else. LOL.

I am on a fair few wine lists and also subscribe to RedBigot, so my view is that Epiqure doesn't normally offer good value (there are exceptions).

But there is undoubtedly a time cost of my time in hunting down the best wines (RB is of great benefit in reducing this). When there are bonus points involved Epiqure does offer decent value without having to sort through a whole lot of dross and I'm sure others do see value in that.

In my limited experience with epicure I have to say that I haven't been very impressed. Occasionally some fair value deals, but never anything outstanding. Too many other vendors offering consistently good to great deals for me to have much interest in epicure.

It really comes down to what GPH said.

If you're a FF, then points are worth something to you. If you're getting $100 worth of points on a $200 purchase, then you're really buying some wine for $100. And those cases, Epiqure is usually cheaper than other outlets.

However, if you don't have any use for the points, then Epiqure's prices aren't particularly attractive. They do tend to have a higher quality of wine than a lot of online stores though, and less of the $5/bottle dross to wade through.

this is a late reply. I do find its wine plan good value. It also allows me to try some wines that I'd normally not pick.

Good value differs from individual to individual. You might want to check out this link winedirect.com.au - Great wine, great price, real people and my referral in the referral thread!

But there occasionally some good deals when you take the points into account.

Have found over the last few years that I rarely buy Qantas Whines without Bonus Points... try and price match against Dan Murphys et al... but geez it's a good way to get points!
