Is P1 worth a 213SC run?

And I agree with juddles. Because we WPs need to stick together. But I'm surprised at the (almost) unanimity of the responses. I follow the 'Platinum One Experiences thread' to see if it might be worth my making the effort (I currently split travel between QF and AC to Nth America) and I haven't seen any compelling arguments.

But I guess in the OP's case its a low hurdle to get there now, so 'might as well'.

The arguments which compel me most (and BTW I would have a bigger margin to make up than the OP for P1) is Int upgrades granted 1 week out, Partner Platinum, soft fall to Plat and the SST in the event of IRROPS.

Not at all swayed by Flight Sims, bottles of wine or other schmoozing.*


* however in the unlikely event of me getting there feel free to schmooze me all you want QF

I was planning to maybe do a points paid Status Run to get the around 120 SCs I may need. But the temptation now is to accept the Freebie and use the points for something more fun!! Thoughts???

Hi pauleg,

Are you likely to hit WP without the need for the freebie? If so, I'd call QFF and discuss; general consensus seems to be that you only get one "get out of jail free card" and you wouldn't want QFF to waste that for you!

I had 2,400 SCs last year and saw no reason whatsoever to go for Platinum One.

But as you said if close then would be worth it just for the guarantee of another year of Platinum.

Not sure but it could have been ~1500 SCs on QF Travel so still needed another 1200 SCs.

So, if it were me, I'd discuss with QF why they'd comp'd me early bearing in mind:

1. They're only ever likely to do so the once
2. I plan to maintain WP myself prior to the end of my Membership year (yes, the Status Run!)
3. My planned reduced flying next year and appreciation of QF comp'ing me at the end of next year

After all, 120SCs should be fairly easy to attain ...

That'd be my plan!

I would do it, even if only to experience P1 (and then I could make numerous posts on AFF saying it is not worth it). But that is just me.
