Is Haneda Transit Hotel open?

We are hoping to fly PE with JAL from SYD to LHR via Haneda in the next couple of months. As there is an 18 hour layover we are wondering if the T2 terminal transit hotel will be open. If not, what are the alternatives?

No the airside transit hotel is not open. Don’t confuse this with the same hotel’s landslide section which can be booked but is not accessible at the moment.(currently Japan is only letting in very limited numbers of tourists on organised tours ).
There is an election in July so I wouldn’t expect a change of rules till after that. Plenty of reports on where to sleep overnight on the internet. It involves sleeping on a bench when the JAL lounge closes. PE on JAL gets you lounge access in HND.

There are some reports that they will be reopening early June. If so there should be no problem using the land side hotel.

We are flying the same route in August. Nothing has changed. Looks like it's going to be camping in T3 transit overnight
