Is 95 mins long enough to turn around in CHC on a status run

I'm considering a status run across the ditch which involves the following sectors:

SYD-CHC QF8766 arrives 1420
CHC-SYD QF8765 departs 1555

Too tight?

Edit: I know people have done this before, but when I went to book it with QF the sales consultant (who had never heard of a status run) put me on hold to check with a supervisor. Long story short, she has put enough doubt in my mind that I baulked and haven't booked.

If there are no delays then you would be fine... but delays on the inbound flight might mean you miss the checkin cutoff for the outbound flight.

That would be my worry.

I get status runs. But CHC is worth at least a day. Check out the Saturday markets. Great food. Lovely cool weather

I agree entirely and have friends there, but the combination of flights becomes considerably more expensive on the days either side. To get $3.12/SC I'm locked into specific days.

Those are codeshare flights? Who is the operating carrier? Emirates? If so I'd guess it's the same aircraft.

That would be a straight turnaround for the aircraft and crew. If the inbound is late, the outbound will be as well. Just checkin online and it will be fine

And you don't think I'll get slowed down by Customs and Immi wanting to know why I'm only there for 95mins?

Well according to CHC's website

If you are travelling with the same airline, and have your onward boarding pass, you may stay within the airside transit lounge before boarding your next flight and your bags will be automatically forwarded to your final destination. If you are travelling with two different airlines you will need to collect your luggage, exit the Customs Hall and then check-in your bags at the Connections Desk within the International Arrivals Hall. Please note that there are safety restrictions as to what you can carry within your hand luggage on international flights, find out what you can carry with you here.

Well, I don't know about that but, if asked, I would just be honest and explain you're doing a status run. SC runs are not against the law, AFAIK!

Not so much as what you're doing is illegal or not but rather if the customs agent believes your story/intentions or not. There's nothing stopping them from thinking your using a cover story to do something dodgy and sending you to secondary. There are reasons why mileage runners in LOTFAP looked at going to SJU rather than other Caribbean destinations. The narrow turn around times run into risk of what the border agent thinks and not about what you're doing.

Great find CaviAck. I never even considered CHC as a transit port. AKL sure, but not CHC. Thanks for the tip!

Me neither, I was merely looking up to see if CHC had a transit security check like SYD after getting off the plane but before immigration. I just bumped into that answer after a quick google.

Good point.

As already covered to some extent, I don't see why you'd need to deal with customs and immigration for a status run. Hand luggage only, I assume.

It would have been HLO. But while canvassing views about whether 95 mins was enough, QF jacked the price up by about $1k. Lessons to be learnt here:
1. Be prepared to act quick.
2. Don't post it here because QF will spot it and take it away.
