iPhone app for forum

There is a Symbian version, it's available from the Ovi Store, AUD4.

Downloads like most apps from Ovi are flaky, so be prepared to try it a few times before you can finally download and install it.

Its still pretty new, has been on the market for +/- 3mths. Feature set seems incomplete, but it will do what you want, which is browse the forums, respond to post, and access latest threads.

Well i can't download it, stupid OVI store!, says that my phone is not compatible, when every other thing i download to my phone is.

Nokia need to take a page from apple's book AND MAKE THINGS THAT ACTUALLY WORK! (most of the time)

I'm interested in tapatalk primarily due to the fact that my phone together with the Virgin/Optus network has a habit of jumping between 3G and GSM for no reason, which makes the internet very slow.....

Thats it, I'm downloading it!!

I want my ipad , so I dont have have to use my iphone for it.... Such an apple fan boi

From all reports the iPad has been very over-rated and the on-screen keyboard is below average.

I'm certainly not going to be buying one, and that's from someone with 2 macbooks, a powermac, 2 minis, an xserver and a lot of other apple stuff too ;)

This really deserves to be in the iPad thread, but I’ve read a few reviews and have seen both positive and negative. News.com.au had a really stupid pros and cons article where they complained about lack of a real keyboard, the fact it weighs more (with a large glass screen who’d have thought), no camera… even though it was never announced with one nor is it a digital camera, no flash support and of course, it’s not yet released in Australia.

I thought their cons list was pretty useless, ending with more pros in the end, but like you I’m going to be waiting for the 2nd gen. It’d be cool to have one now, and I can definitely see it’s potential uses in my life, but I do think the feature set is lacking and next year will bring something more substantial. Going to be hard to be without though!

But back on topic, it’d be great if they made an iPad optimised version of the app too, not that browsing the actual website wouldn’t be hard with a bigger screen, but it’s actually a pretty streamlined app for browsing forums.

For all those that have been asking about AFF on Tapatalk, good news....

Our own customised version of Tapatalk has just been approved by Apple. It is available as a free download from HERE. (No need to purchase anything - other than an iPhone!)

Anyone can view AFF from the application. Our GOLD and SILVER members can login to AFF via the application, and then post, send PMs etc etc.

Right, thanks for the link admin, the app looks good

However, what about those of us who don't use or like (or whatever reason) the iphone, will we be catered for in the near future, or can we use a regular version of tapatalk on our devices (I'm tlaking about Symbian of course)

Cheers,

Josh:p

Thanks for the heads up, looks good, downloading now.

I see it’s available for all devices, does this mean it’s “universal” and shows an improved/larger display on the iPad? That’d be cool if that sort of functionality eventually appeared, though if it’s based off Tapatalk, I understand you’d have to wait for them to roll out an update to you too.

We’ll just have to get you an iPhone (or iPod touch) of course! ;)

I see I’m now famous :D

Works well; very impressive, thanks Admin.

Safari without adverts was good; but this is great.

Brilliant!!!!

Better functionality than the regular site in that I can see how many unread threads there are :)

EDIT

Also finding the general forum view easier to navigate and quicker :)

Just needs an autorotate to landscape view ;)

And multi-quote, but autorotate would be useful.

Also seems selecting "all" text and copying/pasting doesn't work very well.

Great... I can leave my MacBook Pro home tomorrow when I go to SYD.

Thanks!

I'd rate it as good. Autorotate and multi quote would be nice. But I'm really having trouble with displaying posts correctly e.g. Showing quoted text as post text but editing shows all the correct quote things are there, rolling posts over the top of the next post or cut them off.

I'd also like it to jump to the last unread post rather than the top of the last page.

But full credit for the app it is usable as is and better for posting than alternatives.

Ohh and it would be good to be able o mark individual threads as read in the lastest section.

Re: symbian app for forum

Anyone had luck with the symbian version lately? I downloaded tapatalk for symbian but while I found 1,000,000 forums I haven't yet found aff there...

Cheers skip

It is there, and surely it doesn’t just reply on a local list downloaded to the device, so try searching for the complete web address.

I need the bloody tapatalk app itself, stupid ovi store says that it is not comaptible with my E63, but it seems to work with every other series 60 v3 device:evil:

Maybe you need the latest software/firmware for your phone? Or maybe an older version if it’s not compatible with newer versions. Why can’t everything be as easy as an iPod?

Nup, phone has the latest software, Virgin mobile just push it over the network to my phone, there is usually a period of about 20 mins every second wednesday that my phone constantly resets, and thats how I know.

Really bugs me that I can't download the tapatalk app, suppose I will have to make do with mobile mode
