iPhone 4S - have you ordered one? Has it arrived yet?

What's the chances or me walking into an Apple or Optus store and picking up an iPhone?

Have they all instantly sold out or do most places seem to have stock?

Stock availability is better than last model.

I don't have any left but should have more by Tuesday or Wednesday.

I have heard stories that on Thursday Trucks where driving around and that is all they had in the back.

One retailer on the Sunshine Coast got a pallet of I phone 4S's.

I have a card saying I have a package to collect. I assume it's my 32gb iphone 4s which I couldn't collect today as I was flying back from TSV. So I'll probably be breaking my 9am rule to go get it.

My wife didn't preorder one, she simply walked into JB HiFi just after 9am and was told she was number 7 in the queue... Impatient as usual, she popped over to the nearby Next Byte shop where she was served pretty much straight away.
The lack of crowds is one of the benefits of living in Hobart:D

MrsM is a little disappointed that direct preorders have been beaten by telco orders. It would have been nice to have her birthday present to show off tomorrow. Still philosophical though. Perhaps TNT will deliver Sat AM.

I ordered mine last Saturday. Not sure why Direct orders should take precedence over Telco's though.
The 64gb has sold out but seems to be plenty of other stock around.

I really wish I hadn't started this thread ;)

I agree that direct orders should preempt Telcos as buying through Apple theoretically shows more loyalty to Apple and should be rewarded by Apple.

Going to take a shot at walking into a store to get two new 16Gb 4Ss with Telstra in Melbourne on Sunday. Sounds like I've got a reasonable chance.

Ah, not really, I've had iphones since the first one was released internationally. Buying through Apple, potentially for the first time, doesn't imply loyalty.

My Telstra contract expires this month, and it turns out that I can renew and get the 64GB model for only $5/m more than what I'm currently paying.

So yes, I put in an order this morning (I'm on a business maximiser plan, and they didn't run pre-orders for those).

I thought of stopping by a store, but I'm not in a rush to get it (I already have the 32GB iPhone 4 - I'm really only interested in the extra storage) so did it online instead.

Talking to other Telstra Dealers tonight and they have enough stock for probably only tomorrow because demand will be higher than it was today. If you want one on Sunday do it early and have a few shops that you know of as back up.

We are expecting more stock either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Wasn't expecting special treatment, just the same treatment.

Why shouldn't an order direct to Apple a few minutes after announcement be delivered the same day that telcos are delivering theirs?

Still trying to work out what to do here - have decided to wait until next week when I'm back in the country, and have also decided to port to the Big T ... but do I go to a store or sign up over the phone? My primary concern is who's going to offer me a decent sign on bonus.. any ideas? :D

I would be surprised to get any sign on bonuses given the popularity of the handsets and it is actually hard to get a hand set.

Got mine now but still waiting for Vodafone to activate the sim!

Same here for mrssimongr... I was told by vodafone today that mine should be delivered today... guess the call centre didn't realise that it is the weekend here - annoyingly I am interstate Mon-Wed next week so might not get my phone until Friday...

Also having no success tracking the delivery through Australian Air Express...

Got mine now but still waiting for Vodafone to activate the sim!

Am fast realising how good I have had it with this order. Ordered Tuesday pm, delivered Friday am. Called Vodafone Friday night to activate SIM (in fact, transferred the SIM to an alternative Vodafone prepaid number, as I am going to be using the phone with a different service), and it was activated and working within 30mins....

I really don't like you adrian.

Mine is currently at the depot waiting to be delivered to my office which I am not going to until Friday... Might have to stop off there on the way home from the airport on Wednesday...

Preordered mine on the Telstra website on Wednesday, no communication received
from Telstra besides the email confirming the order and order no.

Sent an email yesterday asking the status of the order, received a reply stating
that they received the order it's being processed, and an email will be sent when
phone is shipped.

Not that I'm in a hurry for the phone but it's poor service from Telstra.
