Hi all

Yet another EF question. I am flying QF31 SYD-LHR tomorrow and am amazed that the loads are showing:

F0 A0 J0 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 VC SC NC QC OC XC E0

So that means there is not a seat to be had anywhere on the flight at T-31 hours

Is this normal? Can we expect a very full flight?

I assume that F0 A0 means either no chances of upgrades or that the UGs have already been allocated.

Either way that is going to be one heavy bird!

S

QF31 is actually sold in three different ways, so you need to consider the whole picture.

SYD-LHR
SYD-SIN
SIN-LHR

Looking at SYD-SIN
F0 A0 J5 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 OC XC E9

and

SIN-LHR
F0 A0 J0 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 VC SC NC QC OC XC E0

shows that you should expect a few seats spare SYD-SIN, but then expect the flight to be pretty much full SIN-LHR.

I doubt if any upgrades will come through, and I suspect they'll be looking for volunteers to bump (If you see any signs up, please let me know the amount they're offering!)

Note the A380 flights are becoming *extremely* popular these days and I think people are choosing them over 747 services. But as well, with the $A going so well, Aussies heading to UK/US etc is also increasing.

OK - thanks - I hadnt considered the split flight thing.

Luckily I am in J hoping to go to F but that is I think very unlikely now...

Interesting:

I have now two flights to London tomorrow showing on my booking - 1 in 1st and another in J - same on check my trip/my flights.

BUT no points have been deducted as yet...

So should I be doing the dance of joy yet?

If the points have not been deducted no, I have seen two flights, with one staying as waitlisted right through to the gate when there was no upgrade, I think it is a placeholder in case availability opens up before pushback.

Ok - good job I havent changed my facebook status then ;)

Well it is known as the Upgrade Lottery :)

Is the F sector showing as "waitlisted" (rather than confirmed) on Checkmytrip? That's what it should be showing AFAIK.

Yes it is - waitlisted in F.

I don't recall seeing that before.

Anyway I am sure trying out the new J seats on the A380 will be fine :D

I went though the upgrade stuff this morning (from W to J) {or T to U to be specific}.

Thesedays www.qantas.com/yourbooking actually shows the waitlisted segment. No longer the stock standard "You upgrade request has been declined".

I saw this at 7am ere heading off to work. By the time I was able to recheck some hours later the waitlisted U segment had changed to confirmed and the confirmed T segment along with 25K QFF points had vamoosed.

FWIW, I was allocated 16J (Upperdeck exit seat) - I changed that online. I am now in 23B. :cool:

Same here. The site for me shows:
" Your upgrade from Singapore to Melbourne has been confirmed" with the U segment initially "waitlisted" and then changed to "confirmed" (actually at 30 hours before departure!).

I was moved from 36K to 18F, and re-allocated on-line to seat 11E on the A380 :cool:. I'll have a nice night tomorrow :)

QF31- SYD-LHR is showing:

Y = 2 spare seats
W = -
J = 3
F = -

(Codes refer to class as a whole, not ticket booking code).

This above is also the same availability for SIN-LHR.

The SYD-SIN availability is:

Y = 15
W = 2
J = 3
F = 1

So it seems it is very full on each leg.

The QF1 is choccers as well!

Hope your flight goes well.

Well I am so far not 60K points lighter so I am looking forward to 12E :)
