Hi all
Just a question about travel insurance, I'm going to Hawaii for 3 weeks, 2 adults and 2 teens, in the past I have taken out the appropriate travel insurance with HBF or the like. This time I am looking to use the visa gold card travel insurance that comes with my card which is through Zurich. Can anyone see or know of any negatives of going this way?

Which particular "visa gold card" is it?

To have a chance at a definitive answer the bank and product name would be useful.

Based on my limited research, most TI policies seemed to be pretty similar in terms of lost luggage, medical and legal liability.

So, when choosing travel insurance, I (now) run through a few "what if" scenarios. For example, what if the plane is delayed/cancelled for weather reasons? What if the plane is delayed/cancelled for mechanical reasons? What if a connection is missed as a result of a flight delay/cancellation, and/or there are pre-booked items forfeited? etc. Of all the things that can go wrong on a trip, flight delay/cancellation is a fairly obvious one and it's amazing the variation in coverage between policies.

I'll take this opportunity to re-iterate that 1cover.com.au does NOT cover any expenses incurred as a result of flight delay/cancellation due to mechanical reasons.

What serfty says is correct. Which card? I would read the T & C carefully for the included travel insurance. What/who is covered? What events? what about ilnesses/ accidents? Pay for all of the trip on the one card (that is the advance parts, such as airfare and accom) and keep the receipts and take them with you ( to be able to prove that you have met the terms of qualifying for the policy) as well as information about the policy and how to claim. Writing down some relevant phone numbers in a diary wouldn't hurt either. It might be a good idea to ring up the cover provider (in this case Zurich) before you leave and ask them the questions whose answers you need to know:!:

Thanks, its a Commonwealth Gold credit card (visa), its the international travel insurance(zurich Australia insurance limited)

Thanks, can't really see any real difference between that and the alternative .
