Hey Everyone currently bronze status, very close to silver - I I regularly fly SYD - LAX or neighbouring airports using points for a business award flight. Is there really much difference in terms of classic reward availability from Bronze to Silver?

These are my options now (with Fiji air) for next September and October. As you can see only Sep 28th and Oct 4th and 6th are available for SYD - LAX in businessIMG_4587.jpeg

Hi @J123 :)

Silver will generally get visibility to Classic Award seats from 323 days out, whereas for Bronze, it's from 297 days out. That being said, there's no guarantee Qantas will release award seating that far in advance. For Classic Award seating on partner airlines, status doesn't really make much difference (as I understand it) and availability is largely the same for all QFF members.

You'll also find it better searching for Classic Award flights via the Multi-City Booking tool (if you're not already using that).

What status level are you? Would you be able to post a screenshot showing availability from your end? Also how do I go about doing multi city if it’s generally a direct flight SYD - LAX?

The multi-city search can provide a calendar view of days with each (if any) CR seats and also ignores CR+.

Just search SYD-LAX only (one segment) and flexible dates.

I'm P1.

When you go to the multi-city tool, just enter your trip like so....

The results (as I see them right this moment) are -:

Awesome thank you, so showing a few more from 7th of October compared to me with Bronze where the 6th is the last available
It is a bit more nuanced than that.

I am searching as a Platinum and the flights on the 7th-9th in business appear to be Qantas flights (not FJ flights, they only have economy available).

Silver will not see Qantas business flights at this stage given that silver only sees Qantas business seats from 323 days out.

So in your case, silver is unlikely to make a material difference.

Oh right I understand. Even better seeing as they are Qantas not FJ. Thank you for your help

Well better if you can access them. Which you can’t as silver until 323 days before and it’s more likely they’ll be snapped up by platinums and golds before that time.

@J123 - if you're considering/debating the broader question of whether it's worth pushing to Silver if you are indeed close, I'd say go for it (assuming you don't have to do anything silly to get there). You may not see much difference in Classic Award availability, but there are other benefits you'll get for when you're not travelling on a Classic Award flight in Business.
