Hi

I've booked a Qantas fare to NZ which involves a domestic NZ flight on Jetstar connecting to (domestic) Air NZ. It's all on the one fare/one ticket. Does anyone know if Jetstar will check the bag through to Air NZ? I will have time to re-check in if not but it would be nice...

Thanks!

thanks for that! no worries... the QF international is the day before. But you know, I've flown JQ ZQN-AKL and then AKL-MEL on QF a couple of time and the bag has always gone straight through. So there must be interlining between JQ(NZ) and QF(int)...

That's a entirely different scenairo believe it or not.

You're correct, interlining is available from New Zealand on JQ/QF flights - however only for flights where the international leg departs from AKL.

On flights to New Zealand (your original scenairo), interlining to JQ NZ Domestic isn't available.

At AKL it's no big deal in any case.

It's like into SYD; you still need to collect your bags and process customs before going landside.

AirNZ at AKL do have a domestic luggage check-in at the international terminal in where you can deposit bags before heading over to the domestic terminal, either by walking or catching the bus.

The issue is with the connection in CHC from JQ(dom) to Air NZ(dom). But it's all within the one terminal so can just recheck-in. Funny that they (QF) have fares with both airlines and can issues tickets with both but there is no interlining of bags...

At CHC and WLG it's all one terminal. At both you still need to collect bags before passing though customs; even if on NZ-xNZ
