If I booked JQ509 Sydney 09:10 Melbourne10:45, connecting to Q63 Melbourne 16:40 Ho Chi Minh City 21:05, on ONE ticket,
would I get both BPs in Sydney, and will bags get checked through to Ho Chi Minh without the need to collect bgas and recheck them in Melbourne? This is what J* website says:

thanks

DOM to INT:
Checkin at SYD
Pick up bags in MEL
Checkin at MEL

Yours is not a"connecting international". That refers to "Int to Int connection" . Note the "where both international flights" later in the dot point

Easiest way to remember is that for Jetstar Domestic - nothing gets connected to or from it, regardless of all other facts. All bags in the hold go to the carousel.

Jetstar International is more or less treated the same as QF flights - things will get connected to or from it, but as above, not JQ domestic.

Problem solved...found direct flights a few days earlier from SYD to SGN on J* business for 4 of us. :)
J* business does not include Qantas Club access. I'm Plat so will be in the F lounge with +1 ;) Can I apply Qantas passes to kids' flights (both >21 yo so can't access lounge with us as kids anymore) so they get access to Qf Business lounge at Syd?
