I'm looking for innovative ideas for flying from Perth to Paris leaving around 5 December returning around 2 January.
QF fares in J are up around $12K, other OW fares around $10K.
There is an option on separate tickets via CGK but that is with QR so would mean a transit in Doha.
Given the Middle East situation that might not be a good idea.
Have tried via DPS, KUL & BKK.
Does anyone else have any other ideas?

Doesn't look like there's any viable options under $10K.

I can see CX has PE for $5k if that's an option.

Are you open to making a Y staging flight to somewhere in Asia?

I was looking at a staging flight (J but on OD so almost Y) to CGK but the cheap J fare onwards is with QR so it means transiting Doha.
I can't find any comparably cheap fares from anywhere else in Asia to CDG.

What are people's thoughts on the safety / certainty / risks of flying through Doha in December / January?

IMHO … about 5% higher than the normal risk of flying through the Middle East.

MRU on MK?

Ideally with a long stopover

Ideally using aeroplan miles.

Seems there are no longer any direct flights.

Direct flights on Sunday Tuesday and Friday in December.

What are people's thoughts on the safety / certainty / risks of flying through Doha in December / January?

As you'd expect, I'd be very relaxed about it. I'll tell you of my experience in November, when I have a 2 day stopover there.

Safety: 95% of normal
Certainty: 90% of normal
Risks - manageable.

I have an arrangement with my Travel agent - if for some reason flights are closed and I'm stuck, I'll get driven into Saudi and go on from there.

Does anyone have experience flying QR on a Business Lite fare (no lounge access included) as a OWE using status for lounge access in any one or more of CGK, DOH and CDG?

I think the best chances of ‘certainty’ are with a ME carrier. I think most european airlines have suspended their flights there.

There’s a platinum (OWE) lounge in Doha. Others will have the scoop on CGK and CDG :)
