Hi people

Booked my first flight on Indigo Airlines a few weeks ago for a flight 10.20 CCU- 14.40 BKK. Plan was to o/n at BKK then 8.00 BKK- 15.50 NRT on THAI next day. All nice and civilised. Last night got a text from Indigo to say that service cancelled, now on 20.50 CCU- 1.05 BKK, which means a horror 7 hour layover in BKK before my flight to Tokyo -too short to leave the airport in my opinion. (Even worse if we have to check out of the Kolkata hotel at the 12 noon checkout time). I'm tempted to ditch the Indigo flight (I should be able to get a refund, yes?) and move to the later Thai flight from CCU to BKK which leaves CCU at 1.55, and arrives BKK 5.50, leaving a short layover before the next flight. I'll plead for a late checkout or if necessary pay for an extra day at the Hotel, so could stay in the Hotel until 10pm or thereabouts.

I can't think of any better options. Maybe the Hive mind can?

Would depend on the Indigo T&C.
Certainly on most western airlines you'd be allowed a refund.

Your travel insurance might cover the cost of the additional hotel stay (for late check-out or an additional night). Plus any meals. 7 hours in Bangkok without lounge access is rough, but if you have lounge access (even paid) it is 'doable'.

The TG flight from CCU doesn't have a great on time record - arriving 30 or so minutes late around 30% of the time (stats from flightaware). That could make for a tight connection in BKK with the lengthy transfer security lines.

The other option would be to see if you could move your indigo flight to the day earlier, and have a proper day/overnight in BKK.

There's the Bhutan Airlines flight that leaves at 11.55am.

Edit: This airline appears to have good reviews.
