Increasing SC's

Hello All,

I apologize if someone has already asked this or posted this, I have been searching a fair bit and couldn't find it. I have very recently attained silver status with Qantas and would very much like to get Gold by the end of the year. I travel domestically for work and I have two trips coming up ex Melb to regional Queensland (Mackay/Rockhampton). Both trips will be flex, so I know I will get 100 SC's for each return trip.

I'm aware of the ASA and JASA bookings that I could do to earn the extra SC's, however is there a way I can upgrade to J on these flights, or any flights (using points) for that matter in such a way that I could get extra SC's for my trips? Work will not pay for J tickets, however I'm willing to fork out extra points or a LITTLE extra cash for the extra SC's.
 
Upgrading to J by paying the fare difference is the only way to get the J SCs etc, and thats rarely a "little cash".
 
Thanks markis10, I had a feeling that was my only solution.

Oh well I'll just have to do a status run come the end of the year.

You can change a flexi fare without charge, so if you contact Qantas and explain you want to change to J and pay the difference, you should be able to do so. You won't be able to use points to make up the difference though.
 
Just out of interest, to Mackay/Rockhampton, are they flights which actually have a J cabin?
 
I don't actually know if there is a J cabin to those areas. There probably wouldn't be I assume.

No QF mainline into MKY or ROK, just QF link, no J
 
Just keep an eye out for deals (often unadvertised) just booked DRW-SYD-DRW J 20 Dec/1 Jan for $1400 return which was $31 dearer than semi flex and miles cheaper than standard Y and J.
