Incorrect status credits showing in booking page

Hi all,

First time poster, was directed here by someone on a facebook group to see if anyone can provide insight before I waste my time on the phone with Qantas today. I booked a return flight, Sydney to Dubai flying premium economy. Sydney to Dubai was Premium Economy Saver, which was showing up on the flight search page as having 100 status credits (see image) and the Dubai to Sydney return flight was Premium Economy Flex and showed it would have 115 status credits. Once booked and paid for, in my bookings overview page where it shows all your upcoming bookings, it shows much less Qantas points and status credits for the Sydney to Dubai leg, only 45 status credits! I also did a search on the Qantas calculator and it showed a minimum of 90 status credits but definitely not 45!

The only reason this will become an issue for me is because this will leave me 40 SC short of reaching gold FF this year, so I am pretty frustrated. I am hoping it is an error, if not I may have to cancel and rebook with both legs as full flex just to make sure I get to gold.

Thanks in advance!

I can’t give much advice on your initial problem but, if it comes to pass you need 40 more SCs, you should consider a flight up and back from SYD to OOL (Gold Coast) on Jetstar - $51 each way plus $85 each way for Max bundle will cost only $272 and net you the 40 SCs you need.

Actually it has occurred to me that, although your screen shot shows a QF flight, when you actually booked did you book an EK flight instead? Check your booking. I think EK flights have less SCs than QF flights (although both are on the Emirates plane of course).

I’ve just noticed a similar discrepancy on the points and status credits noted my “My bookings” summary. For the codeshare flights on EK (with QF flight number), it’s showing the economy class points and credits even though I’m booked on business class. I’ve checked the booking and I’m definitely still in business class.

Seems to be another QF IT stuff up.

EK flight numbers earn points but no status credits.

OP has an EK flight but it's a codeshare on QF flight number, so it will earn points and SC's.

@jeromegeorge - what's the travel class you're booked in? The single letter in the brackets when you're in the manage booking, for each flight.

I would suggest that it's an error on QFs site (not unusual TBH). The points table on QF website states you will earn a minimum of 90 SCs assuming you booked discount PE.

Thank you for that tip! That is actually quite decent value to make up the extra SC and a no brainer (along with completing green tier).

Yes definitely booked a QF flight number but operated by Emirates (codeshare)

That's worrying to hear. I have taken a screenshot of the original search page and the calculator search page in case I end up getting credited the wrong SC and have to have it rectified. I am not sure I can deal with the hassle of trying to resolve it right now but maybe in a week or two haha.

So the Premium Saver (Sydney to Dubai) is Premium Economy (R) and the Premium Flex (Dubai to Sydney) is Premium Economy (W).

Yep I did. Do you think it's something I should query now or just leave it?

I'd suggest calling the customer care and have it fixed. They should be able to change this. It's too bad that this issue is happening. I think it's a IT issue at QF end.

On a contrary note, there have been instances where the number of SC's shown in the personal details page (or even the flights confirmation page) will be MORE than what one sees in the booking page.

For instance, in international flights, say, CBR-SYD-SIN-MAA, a flex Y fare, according to the booking page will be 80 credits AND MAA-BLR-SYD-CBR will be 95 credits. So math dictates that the total credits for this trip should be 175 credits. However, in the flights confirmation page one will see 245 credits. This works in favour of the pax. I'm not sure how this "extra" credits are calculated. May be the status of the pax plays a role?

So the Premium Saver (Sydney to Dubai) is Premium Economy (R) and the Premium Flex (Dubai to Sydney) is Premium Economy (W).
Looking at the points earning tables, you should be getting 100 + 115.

So yes, likely a website issue. Doubt calling up will result in a prompt resolution if you wanted the website to reflect this. But you shouldn't have a problem getting the correct status credits credited regardless.

I wouldn't waste your time. You'll get a call centre somewhere outside Australia after sitting on hold for a number of minutes / hours and they won't properly understand your query nor do they have the ability to do anything about it.

There are clear published earn rates on the QF site, and provided you're booked on a QF (not EK) marketed flight and you have an appropriate fare class you will earn the correct SCs. The SC calculations on the booking and MMB page are often incorrect and also do not (from memory) calculate partner airline SCs either.

Deal with it after the flight if it credits incorrectly (keep a screenshot of your booking class + your boarding passes), but I suspect this is just a simple website bug.

In summary, I am going to leave it and not waste my time and energy worrying about it until after my flight.

Thankyou all for contributing, I appreciate it :)
