Incorrect panicked instructions to passengers

When I was a volly firefighter I saw plenty of times where what was said was very different to what was heard.

Then there was the rather famous/infamous very large fire in Dandenong South where the first arriving officer left absolutely no doubt in everyone's mind as to what the situation was -

"VICFIRE - Doveton Pumper is on scene, now known as Ordish Road control and investigati OH FAAARK!!!" - and things just kept getting worse for the next few hours...

As a general rule, cabin crew know very little about aircraft and aviation, so you do need care in just what you say.

But, I’m more interested in the windscreen. I don’t see a failure of an outer layer as requiring a descent at all.

Would they normally fly an aircraft with a failed outer layer back to Australia on the return left or would it be OOS until they had it replaced in Fiji?
