[TD="class: alt1, bgcolor: #FFFFFF"]Hi all,

We are currently doing a research project for our university on the loyalty program SPG. We are comparing SPG to the programs of Hyatt, Marriott and Hilton and we want to give suggestions on how SPG can distinguish and improve itself. If would be great if you all could answer some small questions!
- What extra options would you like to have in the SPG program?
- If you know the other loyalty programs, in what does SPG stand out?
- What do you mostly use your points for?
- In which category would you like to see change? (e.g. partners, earning options etc.)

Many thanks in advance!

I have moved almost all my my stays this year to Hilton as I can earn status on spend, not just nights or stays. They means a lot in SE Asia and Aus as even our cheaper hotels are frequently >200/night and I can hit to tier with HH in 2 or 3 1 week stays.

Even though I have Gold SPG status, I don't really see anythign from it and upgrades are fairly infrequent at my chosen resorts.

With Hilton, golds frequently get upgrades and full breakfast while Platinums get complimentary exec lounge access. The HHonors programme has worked for them, in my case, because I have actually changed planned trips to stay at Hiltons and have moved several bookings away from SPG, increasing their revenue.

I would rather SPG Gold benefits be improved (breakfast AND Internet with more upgrades) or Plat qualification to be based on spend too (~10kUSD, IMO). This would be significantly more than some plats spend on the 25 one night stays in the USA/elsewhere, but encourage those who stay less at more expensive resorts to keep choosing Starwood hotels.
