Sadly I am at status cough, whilst Shrek remains a dyed in the wool bona-fide non- AFF WP.

Really doesn't sound like you're a cough to me, perhaps an addict, but you sound pretty monogamous. Those who are coughs go chasing status on every airline/alliance/hotel chain etc around. You'd be a a real cough if you'd slept around a bit, traded your soul for a status match or two, and found yourself with a pile of gold cards Rather than just one shiny platinum one.

Oh my, I have laughed at this thread too. Fortunately my equivalent SWMBO is the LOTO (leader of the opposition) and being a scientist is most impressed when I quote the various triangulations of SC and points concocted by AFFrs.

Just got back from a trip with a colleague who made several disparaging remarks about things AFFrs hold dear.....such as PB at gate 21 in Melb which was strictly enforced and resulted in a looping snake of non PBs alongside and empty PB lane. her comment about how QF was handling the boarding was unprintable and when I suggested that this was a prized benefit of being a WP in the FF community she looked at me as if in was demented. "there is a FF community???? Who are focused on elite flying and associated benefits???"



By the way, it was the fastest loading of a nearly full A330 I've ever experienced

I'm glad I have read this thread. I was getting a little concerned about these unexplained urges I've had to wear a mini-skirt, lots of makeup, and hang around in airline lounges. Now I know why!

For MOTHs, LOTOs, SOs etc you don't want to confront them with a 6 sector day straight up as that's suicide.

I find it's easier doing a few short sectors with no too many early starts & definitely no red eyes. We did a LAS/xDFW/xMIA/SJU then 1 night at the HIX in SJU before doing a 7 night cruise so the KUP was really a means of getting to the cruise rather than a pure status/mileage run. We also stayed in IHG properties which credited all the stays to SOs account which made sense as he stays in more IHG hotels than me for work.

He likes watching the points add up particularly now he knows every 5,000 points equals one nights free accomm on a points break deal. He's now got an Amex Platinum card plus a Woollies EDR MC so should see more points accumulate rapidly.

We flew in AA 767s SDQ/MIA & DFW/HNL which were nice as you get the sleeper suites so makes the journey more comfortable. Once they log on to their ff account & see the points & credits add up they'll be hooked. I remember sitting in the J Lounge in SYD after arriving from HNL waiting for our flight to BNE & after logging on to the net he says "I'm Gold".

He gets it totally now.

This only works if they don't know how to use a travel or airline website.

We turned up at the wrong terminal in LAX for the return flight and my wife saw there was a direct flight to BNE and she wasn't happy! I explained that I wanted to experience the A380 so that is why we went via SYD... I should have said it was sold out or much more expensive!

Last year when we went to NAN we went via SYD both way, reason for SWMBO cheaper flights, real reason what Flounge time and SC's.

She was a little annoyed when talking to other people in NAN who where from BNE.

But how annoyed were the BNE people when finding out they missed out on a Flounge experience had they gone via SYD (assuming they could be guested into said lounge)?
